Follow his voice, strike the shrub once, then speak with him. His quest takes him from Limgrave through Liurnia and Altus to Leyndell, where you must choose between a fatal rebirth and a route that keeps him alive as your tailor.
Spoilers: The final section explains both outcomes of Boc’s quest.

Where to find Boc in West Limgrave
From the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace, follow the road south and listen for someone calling for help. Boc is concealed as a shrub beside the road. Strike the shrub once to reveal him, then talk to him until his dialogue repeats. He is disguised, not mechanically invisible. PC Gamer’s Boc quest guide and the ER QuestPath English checklist describe this opening encounter.
How to get Boc’s Sewing Needle
- Go to Coastal Cave on Limgrave’s western shore. Boc is beside the Site of Grace outside the cave; speak to him before entering.
- Enter Coastal Cave and defeat the Demi-Human Chiefs. They drop the Sewing Needle and Tailoring Tools.
- Return to Boc and give him the Sewing Needle. This establishes his tailoring service.
Boc’s tailoring can alter eligible garments without a rune cost. The needle and tools are in-game quest items; no real-world sewing supplies are involved.

Where Boc moves next
As you progress, Boc relocates to Sites of Grace. If he is not at a listed stop, rest at the grace and check again; his arrival can depend on your progress through the game.
- Lake-Facing Cliffs: Boc appears at this Liurnia Site of Grace.
- East Raya Lucaria Gate: He moves here next and continues offering free alterations.
- Altus Highway Junction: He appears at this Altus Plateau grace as the story advances.
- East Capital Rampart: His later stop is in Leyndell.
How to get the Gold Sewing Needle
Find the Gold Sewing Needle in a chest at the Church of Vows in eastern Liurnia. Give it to Boc after he has reached his later locations. It enables him to alter eligible demigod garments; you also need an alterable piece of boss armor for that option to appear. The item is distinct from the ordinary Sewing Needle used to begin Boc’s tailoring service.
Choose Boc’s ending: keep him alive or give him a Larval Tear
After you defeat Rennala and Boc reaches the East Capital Rampart, he may ask for a Larval Tear. Do not give him one if you want him to survive. Giving it sends him to Rennala at the Raya Lucaria Grand Library for rebirth; after the area reloads, Boc is dead. The available guide does not identify a unique gameplay reward for choosing this outcome.

Keep Boc alive with “You’re Beautiful”
- Pick up Prattling Pate “You’re Beautiful” in Hermit Village on Mt. Gelmir.
- Use it near Boc at the East Capital Rampart before speaking with him.
- Talk to Boc and choose the dialogue that tells him he is beautiful.
This reassures Boc, keeps him at the East Capital Rampart, and preserves his tailoring service. The route is often described as the happy ending to his quest. PC Gamer’s walkthrough characterizes it as one of the game’s few happy endings.

If Boc is missing after Leyndell
Try resting at the relevant Site of Grace if he has not appeared at the expected stop. PC Gamer also reports that some players have seen Boc disappear after Maliketh and the transition to the Capital of Ash, but its guide says it is unclear whether this is a bug affecting only some players. That report is not proof that the quest always becomes unavailable after the transition.
