To get the early hand-to-hand weapon Dryleaf Arts in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, find the Monk’s Missive near Moorth Ruins in Scadu Altus, then perform the May the Best Win gesture in front of Dryleaf Dane and defeat him in a duel. A second weapon, Dane’s Footwork, is a separate, later acquisition associated with a fight in Enir-Ilim.
How to get Dryleaf Arts
- Find the Monk’s Missive. Explore around Moorth Ruins in Scadu Altus and pick up the Monk’s Missive. The guide reports that collecting it also grants the May the Best Win gesture. GameSpot’s Dryleaf Arts guide
- Locate Dryleaf Dane. Find the monk beside Miquella’s Cross near the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace.
- Use the gesture in front of Dane. Perform May the Best Win to start the duel. The guide says Dane will not challenge you until you do.
- Defeat him. After the duel, you return to the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace, where Dryleaf Arts, Dane’s Hat, and another note can be collected.
If you reached Scadu Altus by the secret route, you may already have passed through the Moorth Ruins area.

Dryleaf Arts and Dane’s Footwork are different weapons

Shadow of the Erdtree requires the base game, ELDEN RING, according to Bandai Namco’s official expansion page. An artbook and soundtrack are listed there as optional collectibles; neither is needed to obtain the martial-arts weapons.
