To open Renna’s Rise in Elden Ring, give Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade at Ranni’s Rise. After the handover, the seal on the northern tower lifts. Climb to the top of Renna’s Rise and use its sending gate to travel to Ainsel River Main. You do not need the Black Knifeprint.
Why Renna’s Rise is sealed
Renna’s Rise is the northern tower in the Three Sisters area, and its entrance is initially blocked by a magical seal. The seal is tied to Ranni’s quest: it opens after you give Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade at the nearby Ranni’s Rise.

Keep the two towers straight: Ranni waits at Ranni’s Rise, where you deliver the blade; Renna’s Rise is the previously sealed tower with the sending gate.
How to open the barrier
- Reach Ranni’s Rise and begin her quest. Travel through Caria Manor in Liurnia and defeat Royal Knight Loretta to reach the Three Sisters. Speak with Ranni at the top of Ranni’s Rise and agree to serve her. Then speak with the three figures below and return to Ranni to finish the initial meeting sequence.
- Defeat Starscourge Radahn. His defeat opens a crater in Limgrave that leads into Nokron, Eternal City.
- Find the Fingerslayer Blade. Progress through Nokron to Night’s Sacred Ground and take the blade from the chest there. The chest is available in the context of Ranni’s quest after you have agreed to serve her.
- Return to Ranni’s Rise and give Ranni the blade. Complete the handover dialogue. Ranni rewards you with the Carian Inverted Statue, and the barrier at Renna’s Rise opens.
How to enter Renna’s Rise and continue
Once the seal is gone, enter the northern tower and climb to the top. Use the sending gate there to reach Ainsel River Main. Pick up the Miniature Ranni and speak to it at a Site of Grace to continue the quest.

Common mix-ups
The Black Knifeprint is not required
The unlock trigger is giving Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade. You do not need to visit Black Knife Catacombs or obtain a Black Knifeprint to open Renna’s Rise.
The Carian Inverted Statue is a separate reward
Ranni gives you the Carian Inverted Statue after receiving the Fingerslayer Blade. It is used for a different route through Carian Study Hall toward the Divine Tower of Liurnia; it is not an additional key for Renna’s Rise.

If the barrier is still there
Check that you gave Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade and that the handover dialogue finished. The documented unlock condition is that handover; a separate general fix for a seal that remains afterward is not established.
