What changed for solo players?
Bandai Namco Europe’s version 1.01.1 patch notes say solo Expeditions gained an “Automatic Revival Upon Defeat” effect. It allows a player to revive once per night boss battle. The notes also confirm that the amount of runes gained in solo Expeditions was increased.

The rune change is qualitative: Bandai Namco did not publish a percentage, multiplier, or specific rune amount in these notes. There is no official figure here to use when estimating how much faster a solo run now earns runes.
Does version 1.02 add auto-revive?
No. The feature was already documented in version 1.01.1. Bandai Namco Europe’s version 1.02 patch notes, published July 31, 2025, list Two Player Expeditions and more precise Relic Effect filtering—not the solo revival or rune changes.

What did version 1.02 add?
Two-player Expeditions
Version 1.02 introduced Two Player Expeditions, with game balance adjusted for the current number of players. That is the update’s relevant multiplayer addition; it should not be confused with the earlier solo adjustments.
Relic Effect filtering
The update also added filter options to make selecting Relic Effects more precise.

How to apply the solo changes
The 1.01.1 notes name PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Bandai Namco’s instruction is to download and apply the update, then restart the game. The patch is an update to the game, not a separate purchase.
Is version 1.02 the latest Nightreign update?
No: Bandai Namco’s official search results include patch-note pages for versions 1.02.1, 1.02.2, 1.02.3, and 1.02.4. That establishes that later patch pages exist, but does not establish the latest installed build on every platform. Check the game’s platform-specific update information for the build available to you.
