Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

The headline’s “one” should not be read as evidence that Solaire is the only Dark Souls reference: GamesRadar’s overview-trailer report names several. “Jolly co-operation” also has a literal Dark Souls connection: Nintendo uses the phrase to label its explanation of summoning another player to help.
Which Dark Souls looks are in Nightreign?
GamesRadar’s May 2, 2025 report on the official overview trailer identifies three reported costume references:
| Reported look | Dark Souls connection |
|---|---|
| Solaire’s armor | Solaire of Astora, from Dark Souls. |
| Faraam armor | Associated with Dark Souls II; the report describes the look as using its Dark Souls III version. |
| Leonhard’s outfit | Leonhard, a character from Dark Souls III. |
These are costume references, not reports that Solaire, Leonhard or other Dark Souls characters join the Nightreign cast. The cited coverage does not establish which single character a separate headline or image might have meant by “one of Dark Souls’ most iconic characters.” GamesRadar+’s overview-trailer report is the basis for these three examples.
How Nightfarer costumes work
The trailer report describes a straightforward appearance change: unlock costume looks with Marks, the game’s currency, and apply them to a Nightfarer. This is a set of fixed looks, not an unrestricted character creator or a system for combining arbitrary armor pieces into a custom outfit. The reported trailer narration, as reproduced by GamesRadar, says players can “unlock new costumes with Marks and change your appearance.”

Later coverage adds more Dark Souls references
The original overview-trailer examples are not the full extent of reported Dark Souls-inspired looks. PC Gamer’s December 5, 2025 coverage of The Forsaken Hollows reports additional Dark Souls looks for the Scholar and Undertaker. That later coverage broadens the list, but the available report does not give enough detail here to identify the specific Dark Souls designs they reference.
What “jolly co-operation” means
“Jolly co-operation” is a phrase tied to multiplayer in Dark Souls, rather than a name for Nightreign’s costume feature. On its official Dark Souls: Remastered page, Nintendo uses “Jolly co-operation!” as a section heading and explains that a player can use the White Sign Soapstone to be summoned as a Phantom, helping another player with the host’s quest. In other words, the phrase points to cooperative summoning. Nintendo’s Dark Souls: Remastered page describes that mechanic.
