Remembrance quests are character-specific story activities you start from a Nightfarer’s Journal. Select Begin Remembrance in that character’s latest Journal entry, complete the objective in a memory of Roundtable Hold, then take the portal back to the present. Expeditions, Journal progression and Memory Fragments open further steps; there is no single fixed run count for every Nightfarer.
How to start a Remembrance
- Select the Nightfarer whose story you want to advance. Each character has a personal Journal and Remembrance progression.
- Open that character’s latest Journal entry. When the entry offers Begin Remembrance, select it to enter the Realm of Remembrance.
- Complete the objective shown in the Journal. Entering the memory alone does not necessarily finish the task.
- Use the portal that appears after the objective is complete. It returns you to the present, where normal progression resumes.
Bandai Namco’s official starter guide describes the Realm of Remembrance as a living memory of Roundtable Hold from before the game’s present events.

How to unlock more Remembrance steps
Remembrance progression is tied to the individual Nightfarer, not a universal quest track. Successful Expeditions sometimes unlock additional Journal entries, while rare Memory Fragments found in Limveld are needed to access further Remembrances. The official guide does not specify a fixed number of Expeditions, a universal Memory Fragment count or a drop rate, so check the active character’s Journal rather than relying on a run-count target.
Why Begin Remembrance may not appear
- Check the intended character’s Journal. The option is attached to the current Nightfarer’s most recent entry, so make sure that Nightfarer is selected.
- Progress through Expeditions. Further Journal entries can unlock through successful Expeditions; check the Journal again as you progress.
- Account for story-state changes. A present-day story event can automatically cancel an active Remembrance.
- In online multiplayer, account for event limits. Only one personal storyline event can be active at a time, and these events are not guaranteed to appear every time, even when their conditions are met.
If the prompt has not appeared, checking the Journal and continuing Expeditions are sensible next steps, but neither guarantees an immediate unlock.

What full completion adds
Clearing a character’s Remembrances and filling that character’s Journal can add scenes to their ending. These scenes can appear after you defeat the Day 3 boss of the final Expedition with that character.

No expansion is identified as a requirement for the base game’s Remembrance system. Bandai Namco’s official product page lists the base game separately from The Forsaken Hollows, which adds Nightfarers and other content.
