Choose a supported platform, sign in with the EA Account you intend to use, and install the game; there is no new general-access opening time to wait for.
When does skate. Early Access open?
It is already open. EA’s current Early Access guide says skate. is out now. The general Early Access launch date was September 16, 2025, as EA announced in its August 2025 update. That date is historical, not an upcoming launch time.
EA’s August 27, 2025 development update distinguished the earlier Insider Preview from general access: “Early Access releases to the world on September 16, but as a thank you to our Insiders, they’re already in the game for a very special Insider’s Preview.” The update did not attribute that sentence to a named speaker. EA’s FAQ describes the program this way: “For us, Early Access is just the beginning.”
How to join and download skate.
- Choose your platform. Open EA’s platform and download guide or skate. page and select the relevant store. EA lists the EA app, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store. The game is also listed for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
- Sign in with the right EA Account. For PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or Epic Games, link the platform account to the EA Account you plan to use. If you are unsure which account is connected, check EA’s Connected Accounts instructions before launching.
- Install and launch the game. skate. is online-only, so you need an internet connection to play. An EA Account is also required.
- On PC, connect a compatible controller. Keyboard and mouse are not supported. EA’s controller guidance gives examples including PS4 DualShock, PS5 DualSense, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S controllers, DualSense Edge, and Xbox Elite V1/V2.
Platforms, cost, and account requirements
EA describes skate. as free-to-play and free to download. You do not need to buy the game to join Early Access. EA Help says PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass is not required to play, though the game does require an EA Account and persistent internet connection. Availability can vary by country; check your local platform store if skate. does not appear in search.

EA’s FAQ mentions Android and iOS as platforms to follow later, but mobile is not listed as currently available in EA’s supported-platform guide. EA has not established a mobile release date in the cited guidance.
Don’t confuse a timed area window with Early Access
Some in-game areas can have their own limited access windows. For example, EA’s Season 5 notice, published August 25, 2026, lists Isle of Grom’s Open Access window as October 20 through November 3, 2026. That schedule applies to the area, not to downloading or joining the game’s general Early Access.

Account-linking caution
Use the EA Account you want associated with your progress and purchases. EA warns that unlinking a platform account can put access to purchases, progress, or the game at risk. Check the account connection first rather than unlinking and relinking to troubleshoot casually.
