Nightfarer Goblets—also called chalices or Relic Rite vessels—determine which Relics you can equip in a build. The Goblet supplies the slots; equipped Relics supply the effects. Each Nightfarer starts with a chalice that holds three Relics of specified colors, and you can unlock more choices as you progress.

What do Nightfarer Goblets do?

A Goblet is part of Nightreign’s Relic Rite system: it is a vessel with slots for Relics. Each slot’s color determines which Relic types can go there. Some advanced rites include uncolored slots that accept any Relic type, according to Bandai Namco’s official guide.

The vessel sets the shape of your loadout, not the effects themselves. Relics are equipable items that modify a Nightfarer’s stats or abilities. Bandai Namco’s Official Starter Guide says they provide “permanent modifications” that remain until a Relic is removed or replaced. A Goblet is not described as an expedition consumable, and equipping one does not intrinsically change a character’s skills.

How do you unlock more Goblets?

The official beginner and advanced tips describe three general routes for obtaining chalices:

  • Each Nightfarer begins with a chalice for three Relics of specified colors.
  • The Small Jar Bazaar can offer one additional chalice per character.
  • Further chalices unlock through certain in-game actions as you progress.

The guides do not provide a complete, current list of every Goblet’s name, slot colors, and unlock condition. Check the item descriptions and unlock notices in your game for the specific vessel you have found; a roster-wide checklist with exact requirements cannot be established from the official guides cited here.

How do Goblet slots work with Relics?

  1. Choose a vessel. Open the Relic Rite options for the Nightfarer you want to prepare and select an available Goblet or chalice.
  2. Check the slot colors. Match each Relic to a compatible colored slot. If the rite has an uncolored slot, it can accept any Relic type.
  3. Equip the Relics for their effects. The equipped items provide the stat or ability modifications; their effects persist until you remove or replace them.

There is no universally best Goblet: the useful choice depends on the Relics you own and the build you want. A more flexible slot can make a wider range of Relics fit, while colored slots constrain the choices to matching types. The official sources do not publish a complete vessel-by-vessel slot chart, so compare the options shown in your own game rather than relying on an unverified list.

Does roster or DLC affect Goblet details?

Nightreign’s roster has grown beyond its original eight Nightfarers. The starter guide covers the base roster and describes Duchess and Revenant as unlockable characters. Bandai Namco’s Forsaken Hollows DLC guide identifies Scholar and Undertaker as DLC Nightfarers and says defeating Tricephalos is required to unlock them. Vessel choices and availability can therefore depend on which characters and content you have unlocked; consult the relevant character’s in-game options for their available rites.

How do Goblets fit into Nightreign progression?

Goblet unlocks sit within a broader progression loop. Bandai Namco’s starter guide explains that defeating Nightlords and clearing Expeditions unlock further content; first clears can award Relics unique to a Nightlord avatar, and Nightfarer Journal Remembrances can also unlock rewards. Those are progression and reward systems alongside Relic Rites, not evidence that every Goblet has a specific Nightlord or Remembrance requirement.
