Remembrance in Elden Ring Nightreign is a character-linked set of personal goals and story material managed through the Journal—not a separate mode or a replacement for Expeditions. In co-op, only one player at a time can advance a personal goal on Limveld, so the player pursuing a Remembrance should start matchmaking. If the group wants to focus on ordinary Expedition play, deactivate the mission in the Roundtable Journal.
What Remembrance is in Nightreign
Remembrance is a Journal-based personal-goal system associated with Nightfarers. It gives a character objectives tied to their own story progression, while the game’s main play loop remains Expeditions. The official Bandai Namco starter guide describes each Expedition as two in-game days of exploration in Limveld, with mandatory nighttime boss encounters, followed on the third day by a showdown with a Nightlord avatar. Successful Expeditions also grant permanent character upgrades and Murk.

Remembrance goals sit alongside that Expedition progression; they are not an alternative Expedition format. The available official material does not establish a single number of runs required to unlock Remembrance chapters, so there is no reliable universal run count to give.
How to manage Remembrance missions
Open the Journal in Roundtable Hold to manage a Remembrance mission. You can deactivate a mission there if you do not want it to interfere with a session. The official Remembrance progression guide documents this control and the multiplayer limitation.

How Remembrance works in co-op
Only one player in a multiplayer group can progress a personal goal on Limveld at a time. If more than one party member is pursuing Remembrance objectives, matchmaking can fail. Have the player whose goal the group is advancing initiate matchmaking; other players should deactivate their active Remembrance missions if they are not the focus.
Example: Guardian’s Remembrance
Bandai Namco’s version 1.01.2 patch notes, published June 10, 2025 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, identify a Guardian personal objective titled “Find the Demon Merchant in Limveld.” The notes report a fix for an issue that could prevent the merchant from appearing under certain conditions. This confirms that at least some Remembrances involve finding or interacting with something in the world, but the patch notes are not a full walkthrough of the objective.

It does not provide a complete set of character-by-character chapter unlock requirements, objective steps, or rewards. Treat detailed walkthrough claims and precise completion estimates with caution unless they are supported by a reliable guide for the specific character and mission.
