Use an external Shadow of the Erdtree interactive map to search locations, filter categories, mark discoveries and share individual markers. Keep it alongside Elden Ring’s built-in map: the external map shows authored location markers, while the in-game map is uncovered by finding map fragments at obelisks. Because the Land of Shadow is highly vertical, always check the linked regional route notes before assuming a nearby marker is reachable on your current level.
Which map should you use?

The external map is fan-made content, not an official Bandai Namco map. Its marker inventory can change as the site is edited, and its published category totals are not authoritative game totals.
How to open and use the interactive map
- Open the Shadow of the Erdtree interactive-map page in a JavaScript-enabled browser.
- Choose the Land of Shadow region or world layer you are exploring.
- Use the search field for a named location, character or item.
- Turn categories on or off to reduce clutter. For a low-spoiler route, start with Sites of Grace, map fragments and blessing collectibles; enable boss and NPC categories only when you want those markers.
- Select a marker to read its location information and copy its shareable link when you need to send that exact spot to another player.
- Use the site’s mark-as-found control to track progress. Those marks are stored in your browser, so clearing site data or changing browsers can remove the record unless you keep your own backup.
If the interactive layer does not load, the site says locations are also provided as text on linked regional and category pages. Those lists are useful on phones, with script-blocking extensions, or when you want a checklist rather than a live map.
Entering the Shadow Realm
Shadow of the Erdtree requires the Elden Ring base game. Bandai Namco’s official expansion guidance states: “Shadow Of The Erdtree requires ELDEN RING base game to play.” The publisher also sells an edition bundling the base game and expansion; verify your platform and edition before purchasing.

- Defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood, in the base game.
- Travel to Miquella’s cocoon in Mohgwyn Palace.
- Interact with the arm at the cocoon to enter the Shadow Realm.
After resting at a Site of Grace in the Shadow Realm, the game’s map lets you fast-travel between the Shadow Realm and the Lands Between.
Finding map fragments in-game
The Shadow Realm map begins largely obscured. Look for the stone obelisk icon and collect the map fragment there to reveal that region. The revealed image is a useful orientation aid, but it is not a complete route plan: cliffs, tunnels, towers and underground areas can place a destination above or below the point shown on the flat map.
When a marker looks close but cannot be reached
- Check whether the marker belongs to a different elevation or a separate underground layer.
- Inspect the external map’s regional notes or linked text description for the intended approach.
- Look for connecting roads, spirit springs, lifts, caves and branching paths instead of walking directly toward the icon.
- Use the in-game map after revealing the local fragment to identify terrain and Sites of Grace near the route.
Prioritizing blessing collectibles
Scadutree Fragments
Scadutree Fragments increase the Scadutree Blessing. In the Shadow Realm, that blessing raises your attack power and damage negation, making these markers valuable when ordinary character levels are no longer solving incoming damage.
Revered Spirit Ash
Revered Spirit Ash raises a separate blessing that improves summoned spirits and the spectral steed. Do not treat it as another Scadutree Fragment category: the two collectibles affect different parts of your Shadow Realm progression.

The map page currently displays one set of category counts in its headline inventory and a different set in its FAQ for Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes. Because those figures conflict and are site-maintained rather than official totals, use the map as a location checklist, not as proof of a definitive collectible count.

- Begin with map fragments and Sites of Grace so the world becomes navigable.
- Add Scadutree Fragment and Revered Spirit Ash markers when you are preparing for difficult areas.
- Search individual item or location names instead of enabling every marker.
- Leave boss and NPC layers disabled until you are ready for story, encounter and quest spoilers.
The map guidance identifies category filtering, but it does not establish a dedicated spoiler-control mode. Treat boss, NPC and quest-related labels as potentially spoiler-heavy.
Troubleshooting and practical limits
- Nothing appears: enable JavaScript and reload the page.
- The map is too crowded: hide all categories, then enable only the one you need.
- Your checklist disappeared: browser-stored completion marks may have been erased by cleared site data, private browsing or a different browser.
- A marker seems unreachable: investigate elevation and alternate layers; the flat image does not represent every vertical route.
- You need a text-only reference: open the linked region or category list supplied by the map site.
What the interactive map cannot replace
It cannot reveal the game’s own map fragments for you, unlock fast travel, or explain every route in a vertical zone. Use it to identify targets, then let the in-game map, Sites of Grace and environmental landmarks guide the actual journey. Remember that marker accuracy and category coverage depend on the fan-made site’s maintenance.
