Yes. ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 includes two new starting classes: Heavy Knight and Idus Knight. The edition launched on August 28, 2026, and the same additional content is available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC through the Tarnished Pack.
Which new classes are in Elden Ring Tarnished Edition?
The two additions are Heavy Knight and Idus Knight. Bandai Namco’s version 1.17 patch notes list both as options players can select during character creation: official version 1.17 patch notes.
These are starting classes, not permanent build restrictions. Bandai Namco describes a class as “a starting point,” and says players shape their character’s development as they progress: ELDEN RING Classes and Tarnished Edition starter guide.
Are the classes included with the Switch 2 edition?
Yes. The Switch 2 release is called ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition. It bundles the original game and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, as well as the two new starting classes, additional armor and Torrent appearance customization. Bandai Namco lists physical and digital edition options on its official Tarnished Edition page. The publisher announced August 28, 2026 as the release date and confirmed availability on that date: launch announcement.

You do not need to choose Heavy Knight or Idus Knight to get their equipment. The version 1.17 notes say the new class equipment can also be obtained from merchants or found in the game world.

Yes. On PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the additional content is sold separately as the Tarnished Pack. Bandai Namco lists two classes, three Torrent customization skins and four armor sets in the pack. Its guide gives a standard price of €4.99 and notes that local currency prices may vary, so check the relevant storefront for the current price and availability: Tarnished Pack guide.
