Yes. Elden Ring’s Version 1.14 changed several parts of the Shadow of the Erdtree final-boss fight in ways that should make it less punishing and easier to read. The official notes do not name the boss or specify every altered move; contemporaneous coverage identifies the encounter as Promised Consort Radahn.
What Version 1.14 changed in the final-boss fight
Bandai Namco’s Version 1.14 patch notes group the changes under “Final Boss balance adjustments.” The publisher says: “The following adjustments have been made to the final boss of ‘SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE’”. It lists six broad adjustments:
- The action pattern at the start of the battle was changed.
- Some attack moves were adjusted.
- Damage from some attacks was decreased.
- Stamina damage from some attacks was decreased.
- The range of some attacks that do not use a weapon was decreased.
- The visibility of some attack effects was improved.
Taken together, those changes point to a fight with a less punishing opening, some reduced incoming damage and stamina pressure, and clearer visual cues for certain attacks. The notes do not identify the specific moves affected, give before-and-after values, or measure how much the fight’s difficulty changed.
Did the update nerf Promised Consort Radahn?
Yes, in the broad sense that some of the final boss’s attacks were made less damaging and less costly to withstand, while certain non-weapon attacks had less range. Push Square’s September 11, 2024 report identifies that boss as Promised Consort Radahn and characterizes the changes as making the fight “a little easier.” That phrase is the outlet’s assessment, not a quantified claim from FromSoftware.

There is no official percentage reduction, published win-rate change, or complete move-by-move breakdown in the cited notes. So it is accurate to say 1.14 eased aspects of the Radahn encounter; it is not established that the patch removed a particular notorious attack, fixed the fight, or made it easy for every player.
How to tell which version you have
The European patch page, dated September 10, 2024, lists App Ver. 1.14 and Regulation Ver. 1.14.1. Its target platforms are PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. On PlayStation and Xbox, the regulation file can be downloaded after logging in to the game server; the notes say the update is required for online play.
Version 1.14 also included separate PvP-exclusive adjustments, broader balance changes to equipment and weapon arts, spells and incantations, bug fixes, and fixes for possible unstable performance. Those are separate categories in the patch notes: PvP changes should not be mistaken for changes to Radahn’s boss encounter.

The official notes establish that the final boss received the six categories of adjustment listed above. They do not name the character, specify every altered attack, quantify the difficulty reduction, or establish whether Version 1.14 remains the latest balance state in October 2026. The boss identification comes from contemporaneous reporting, while any claim about the update’s effect beyond the listed changes should be treated as interpretation.
