Follow the mine’s ledges carefully, check its icy walls for Smithing Stones, and open the left-side shortcut before taking on the later Onyx Lord. The tunnel ends with Astel, Stars of Darkness, who drops Meteorite of Astel and 120,000 runes.
Where to find Yelough Anix Tunnel
Look in the southwest of the Consecrated Snowfield, beneath the Yelough Anix area. Ride the entrance elevator down, then activate the Site of Grace to begin the route.
Walkthrough: reach the boss gate
1. Cross the first pit safely
From the Site of Grace, head north through the first chamber, then continue northeast. When you reach the chamber with a pit, do not drop straight down. Follow the right edge to the ledge with a corpse, drop to that ledge, and then descend to the floor.
2. Search the miners’ chamber
Frozen miners awaken nearby. Deal with them, then look on the wall near the northern miner for a Smithing Stone [8]. Take the three Freezing Grease from the corpse in the center of the room, then head south into the winding tunnel.

3. Cross the wooden walkway
At the wooden walkway, handle the miners along the route and the rock-thrower across the gap. Jump across to defeat the ranged miner, then return for Golden Rune [10] and descend the ladder.
4. Loot the ladder’s base and the Onyx Lord’s chamber
At the bottom of the ladder, take the Smithing Stone [8]. Deal with the two frozen miners nearby, then collect the Rune Arc from the corpse to the northeast and continue northwest.
An Onyx Lord appears around the next corner. You can fight it now or move on; the route guide says it will not follow far. Search the western alcove for two Smithing Stone [8] pickups, then check the northern corner for an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.
5. Climb to the next chamber
Climb the ladder, cross the gap, and continue north. In the next room, hug the right wall to approach the seated miner. Collect six Explosive Stone Clumps and the Smithing Stone [8] on the wall. Climb the central ladder, deal with the miners above, and continue over the rocks into the large chamber.

6. Open the shortcut before backtracking
A second Onyx Lord appears in the large chamber. Sprint past it into the next room and open the shortcut door on the left. Once the shortcut is open, you can return to fight the Lord if you want; opening the door first saves you from repeating the whole route if you are defeated.
7. Collect the large chamber’s loot
In the large chamber, collect Hero’s Rune [5], a Smithing Stone [8], Somber Smithing Stone [9], Somber Smithing Stone [8], and another Smithing Stone [8]. Before going through the boss gate, turn back toward the shortcut and check behind you for one more Smithing Stone [8].
8. Enter the boss room
Open the large wooden gate to reach the boss. After the fight, use the return wisp or teleport to the Site of Grace.

Astel creates copies when it teleports. In the encounter described by the route guide, the copies are less solid-looking; the real Astel is the one that can grab you. Treat that distinction as a visual cue from the walkthrough, not as an official explanation of the boss’s mechanics.
Defeating Astel, Stars of Darkness, rewards the Meteorite of Astel sorcery and 120,000 runes, as listed by EIP Gaming in 2022 and Eldenpedia.
