Eldrem: Kingdoms is an unreleased fantasy action RPG built around a distinctive creature-collecting idea: summoned creatures lend their powers to the player character, rather than fighting only on their own. The wider plan includes exploring floating islands, taming and breeding creatures, raising dragons, and building and defending a kingdom. As of October 3, 2026, Steam lists no release date and says the game is not yet available; the studio is focused on PC and targets closed access for selected backers in 2027.
What is Eldrem: Kingdoms?
Eldrem: Kingdoms is an action-adventure RPG and creature collector in development at Eldrem Studios. Its central combat idea is that the creatures you summon change your own abilities. The developers describe a broader mix of exploration, creature care, character progression, and kingdom management, but those are planned systems rather than a checklist of features confirmed in a finished game.
Steam lists the game under Action, Adventure, Indie, and RPG. The same listing says the release date is “To be announced” and that the game is not available for purchase. It describes the project as nearing the end of its pre-alpha stage; its notes on systems in development are the studio’s status report, not an independent assessment of a playable build.
How does combat and creature collecting work?
Creatures lend powers to the player
The announced hook is a change in who uses a creature’s abilities. Rather than relying only on summoned creatures to attack independently, the player character gains powers from the creature currently summoned. Steam’s description says spells come from that creature and species have their own spell sets; it gives an Ice Ursaleo’s ice shield and a dragon’s flight as examples. These are descriptions of the intended design, not verified features in a released game.

The studio’s Kickstarter FAQ says creatures can vary in abilities and that rarity affects cosmetic appearance, attribute variation, ability pool, and time to level. It also says epic and legendary creatures can be found through normal play. These are developer statements about the design; the game is not available to establish how progression feels in practice.
Taming, training, and building a roster
The campaign overview describes exploring the Crystal Sky Islands, hunting and weakening creatures, then attempting to tame them. Captured creatures can be summoned to fight alongside the player and provide active abilities and passive powers. The campaign says an adventuring party can bring up to four creatures, with different elements, strengths, and combat roles to suit different challenges.
In a CGMagazine interview published October 2, 2026, game designer Dragos Inoan described a loop of hunting, taming, training, fighting, and breeding creatures for more exotic traits. He also described character combat and progression: fighting helps players advance into higher levels and more dangerous areas. Inoan said players could favor close melee or a ranged approach that relies more on creature powers and spells; his comment that close combat may progress faster is a design description, not measured balance data.

What else is planned beyond creature battles?
The project’s scope extends beyond a creature roster. The campaign presents exploration, dragon raising, resource gathering, kingdom expansion, and conflict over territory as parts of the intended experience. It describes constructing buildings that produce resources, recruiting and training armies, defending territory, and attacking rival lands. Steam also mentions defending a town from attackers.

The campaign describes the intended breadth, while Steam says core systems are still being completed.
When can you play Eldrem: Kingdoms, and on what platforms?
Steam currently lists the release date as unannounced and says the game is not yet available. The studio’s FAQ says PC is the initial focus and gives 2027 as a target for closed access to selected backers, with public Early Access planned later as development advances. In the October 2, 2026 CGMagazine interview, Inoan said Early Access remained “a bit into the future.” These are plans and targets, not a confirmed release schedule.

The game has listings on Steam and the Epic Games Store; a listing or wishlist option is not evidence that the game has shipped. The FAQ says mobile and console could be considered after the PC version is established, so neither is confirmed as a launch platform.
Will Eldrem have multiplayer?
The studio’s FAQ says the launch focus is single-player. It lists PvP arenas, competitive systems, cooperative adventures, and online guild activities as future plans, not launch features. The timing and final scope of those modes have not been established.
How does the indie background shape the project?
Inoan told CGMagazine that the team draws on experience in both large corporate teams and smaller indie teams. He described larger teams as allowing specialization, while smaller teams ask people to consider the whole project and can change direction more quickly. As he put it, “A small team allows you to change directions quickly, adapt and implement test features that are impossible in corporate environments.” That flexibility is the clearest explanation of the project’s indie aspirations; it does not by itself establish how quickly development will proceed.

Inoan named Eragon, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Elden Ring, World of Warcraft, and Pokémon among the team’s inspirations. He also said the developers consulted historical European martial arts books for fighting styles and stances. These are influences he identified in the interview, not a complete account of the game’s design lineage.
According to the interview, founder John Ispas’s interest in Eragon helped start the project, with technical artist George and creature concept artist Joshua helping shape the vision. Ispas described Kickstarter as a way to accelerate work toward an early playable pre-alpha—including development, servers, and infrastructure—and bring player feedback into development sooner. He said, “For us, Kickstarter is an opportunity to accelerate that progress and bring players into development earlier, so their hands-on feedback can help shape the game.”

The studio FAQ describes Eldrem as a planned premium game. It says optional expansions or cosmetic items may follow launch and states the goal that no purchase should be required to enjoy full gameplay progression. Those are current developer intentions, not final store terms.

The FAQ says an Eldrem account is required to play, save progress, and receive Kickstarter rewards. It says Steam or Epic login options may be offered later; matching email addresses would be needed to connect those accounts with pledge rewards. Account requirements and login options may change before launch.
The studio says Eldrem is not a blockchain or NFT game and that it chose not to pursue that direction.
