The Electric Mining Rig Mk II is an AIC mining facility for harder minerals, including Ferrium Ore. It requires a mining spot and power to operate. Its listed unlock is Basic AIC Plan → Basic AIC III → Mining III; it uses more power than the standard Electric Mining Rig but is not listed as mining faster.
What does the Electric Mining Rig Mk II mine?
The Arknights: Endfield factory tutorial describes the Mk II as an improved Electric Mining Rig that can mine harder minerals such as Ferrium Ore. The official tutorial establishes that capability, while the mineral-by-mineral comparison comes from the community-maintained Endfield Talos Wiki.
That wiki recommends the standard Electric Mining Rig for Originium Ore and Amethyst Ore. The practical distinction is therefore which minerals a rig can handle, not a general increase in output speed.
How do you unlock the Electric Mining Rig Mk II?
- Research Mining III: Follow the Basic AIC Plan progression through Basic AIC III to Mining III. The Endfield Talos Wiki’s AIC Factory Plan page lists Mining III as the research that unlocks Electric Mining Rigs Mk II.
- Construct it with the PAC: Use the Protocol Automation-Core (PAC) and the Mk II facility template. The factory tutorial says AIC factory facilities are constructed through the PAC and require a facility template; templates are acquired through AIC Factory Plan technologies. The Mk II Template reference likewise identifies it as the formula item used by the PAC and says it is researched through AIC Factory Plan Technologies.
Does the Mk II need power?
Yes. Electric mining rigs need power to work, according to the official factory tutorial. The Endfield Talos Wiki lists the Mk II’s power use as 10. That figure is a community-wiki game attribute, not a value stated in the official tutorial, and may change with game updates.

Place the rig on a mining spot and provide power for it to operate. A powered rig placed somewhere other than a mining spot will not meet the stated placement requirement.
Is the Mk II faster than the standard Electric Mining Rig?
No faster output is established. The Endfield Talos Wiki says the Mk II uses more power but does not produce resources faster than the standard Electric Mining Rig. Choose the Mk II for access to harder minerals such as Ferrium Ore; for Originium Ore or Amethyst Ore, that wiki recommends the standard rig instead.
