The game alternates between two connected jobs: developing the nest underground and directing activity above ground. How does the campaign work?
The official website describes documentary-style narration and a Formicarium home-colony progression concept. When did Empires of the Undergrowth come out?
Empires of the Undergrowth left Early Access and reached full release on June 7, 2024. Its Early Access period began on December 1, 2017, according to Steam. Steam store listing
Slug Disco developed the game; Steam lists Slug Disco and Hooded Horse as publishers. Development continued after launch: the official Hooded Horse wiki records the Supporter’s Pack and Exploding Species DLC release on March 24, 2025, while official Steam announcements in 2026 refer to Beach Brawl beta and update activity.
