To complete Encircling Lake’s Treasure in Where Winds Meet, speak to the quest NPC at Encircling Lake, find two keys, then use them to open the chest in the cave behind the waterfall. The overall sequence is consistent across walkthroughs, but guides disagree about the first key’s exact puzzle room and the second key’s location. Use your active quest marker and objective text to choose the route shown in your game.
Start the Wandering Tale at Encircling Lake
This is a Wandering Tale associated with Sundara Land in Qinghe. Travel to Encircling Lake and check the quest marker for the meet point and NPC; walkthroughs place the interaction near the waterfall or the Encircling Lake Boundary Stone. The opening details vary between guides, so let the marker in your game determine the precise spot.

If the NPC is not available, check whether the quest indicates a time condition. NerdsChalk says to set the clock to Yin hour, but that condition is not consistently reported by the other guides. GameTrek names Lu Ke alongside Hong Yang in the opening interaction, while other guides focus on Hong Yang.
Hong Yang may offer information for 50 coins. Treat this as optional: the guides that mention the payment do not describe it as necessary to complete the quest.

Find the first key: follow the Meow Meow objective
The first key is tied to a Meow Meow lantern puzzle, but published walkthroughs describe different nearby structures and lantern configurations. Track the first-key objective and confirm that you are in the room indicated by your game before applying a specific solution.
- Game8 places the puzzle in a house south of Twinbeast Ridge and says to close the lantern by the door and light the lantern on the boxes.
- NerdsChalk places it in a large house at Moonveil Mountain and says to leave only the far-right lantern by the red jar lit.
- GameTrek describes a ruined riverside temple at Twinbeast Ridge and directs players to open the chest beneath the fallen roof for the Strange Key.
These directions do not establish one universal room or lantern arrangement. Use the current quest objective as your location check, then interact with the Meow Meow puzzle objects or chest shown there to collect the key.

The second key’s reported location differs substantially between walkthroughs. Game8 and NerdsChalk place it at Tiger Fort or Tiger Fort Outpost; GameTrek instead points to a hidden tunnel west of Deerforage Cave. Do not search both locations as though both keys are required. Follow the second-key marker and objective text in your version of the game.
- If your marker leads to Tiger Fort: Game8 says to clear the fort and shoot explosive barrels to break a wall at the back of a house. NerdsChalk also describes a fragile wall near Tiger Fort Outpost and specifies Fire arrows for the barrels.
- If your marker leads west of Deerforage Cave: GameTrek describes a hidden tunnel, with rock debris blocking access to a chest containing the key.
These are guide-specific routes, not interchangeable steps in a single route. The consulted walkthroughs were updated on different dates—NerdsChalk on December 1, 2025; Game8 on April 8, 2026; and GameTrek on May 8, 2026—so current in-game directions are the safest reference.

Open the chest in the waterfall cave
- Return to Encircling Lake and locate the waterfall.
- Enter the cave behind or through the waterfall, following the quest marker if available.
- Interact with the chest and use both collected keys to unlock it.
- Collect the contents to finish the treasure objective.

All three consulted walkthroughs list the same rewards. They are secondary-guide reports rather than figures independently confirmed by an official publisher source.
