Guides say the shards are not missable, so you can collect them after finishing the main story.
What do Data Shards unlock?
Collecting all eight is tied to the secret-ending route described by walkthroughs: take the shards to the Mainframe in Lower Levels B3, then replay the final boss fight. Epic Games Store separately lists the achievement “Shard Collector” with the description “All Data Shards found.” That confirms the collection milestone, but Epic’s achievement listing does not describe the secret-ending steps.

When should you collect them?
The 100% Guides True Ending Guide, dated September 29, 2026, says the Data Shards are not missable and can be collected after completing the main story. You do not have to interrupt the main campaign to secure them.

- Find all eight Data Shards in the areas listed above.
- Go to the Mainframe in Lower Levels B3 and turn in the shards.
- Defeat the final boss again. Walkthroughs describe this replay after the Mainframe turn-in as the final step of the secret-ending route.
The turn-in and replay sequence is also summarized by the 100% Guides Trophy Guide. The Epic achievement listing supports the all-shards collection objective, but the ending requirements come from walkthroughs rather than that official listing.
