It may be a weaker fit if you want a guided story campaign: a GameSpot review praised the game’s lore and writing but found that faction quests, rather than a dedicated campaign, come closest to that experience.

What do reviews say about the game?
Faction-specific play is a central strength
In its review, GameSpot highlights faction-specific victory conditions as a way the game creates distinct play styles. That design gives a playthrough more identity than simply pursuing the same goal with a different faction: the conditions for success are tied to which people you choose.

Lore and writing add character
The same GameSpot review praises Endless Legend’s lore and writing. Its assessment is a critic’s judgment, not a claim that every player will respond to the narrative in the same way.

Does Endless Legend have a story campaign?
There is no guided campaign or dedicated story mode in the sense described by GameSpot’s review. The reviewer identifies faction quests as the closest equivalent and says that story-oriented element could have been developed further. If a directed narrative is your main reason for playing a strategy game, that is an important limitation; if you mainly want faction-led strategy, the quests and lore still provide narrative context.
