Endzone: A World Apart is a single-player survival city builder built around keeping a settlement alive through resource shortages and recurring environmental disasters. Reviews point to an appealing but demanding premise; whether it suits you depends largely on how much pressure and settlement micromanagement you want.

What do you do in Endzone: A World Apart?

You build and manage a settlement in a post-apocalyptic world. The main loop is to gather and refine resources, assign residents to professions, and plan food and water production while responding to threats. The official Steam listing identifies contaminated ground and rain, droughts, sandstorms, and raiders among the hazards.

The challenge comes from balancing routine city-building with preparation for crises: environmental conditions can disrupt the systems your settlement relies on. The available descriptions support a focus on production and survival management, rather than presenting combat or exploration as the main draw.

How do reviews describe the game?

Early-access coverage praised the difficulty

In an article published during early access on April 26, 2020, PC Gamer’s Jonathan Bolding described the game as standing out through difficulty, particularly the challenge of sustaining food and water production when weather and radiation threaten a colony. He wrote, “In a crop of games that may as well be clones, Endzone has something that sets it apart.” That was early-access commentary, not a review of the final release. Read the PC Gamer article.

The 2021 review listing was cautious

Gamepressure’s PC review listing, dated March 28, 2021, gives the game a 6.8 and displays an OpenCritic recommendation aggregate of 34% among 11 critics. That is a small aggregate, not enough to treat as a definitive measure of critical consensus. Read the Gamepressure listing.

How hard is Endzone: A World Apart?

Its difficulty is tied to maintaining sustainable food and water supplies while hazards can interrupt production. The early-access coverage specifically highlighted that survival pressure, and the official description presents disasters and scarcity as central to the game. Expect to spend attention on planning, resource flows, and settlement management rather than treating it as a relaxed city painter. The available review material does not establish a single difficulty level or quantify how the final version compares with other survival builders.

Is Endzone: A World Apart worth playing?

It is a reasonable fit if you want a settlement builder where environmental threats and resource planning make expansion risky. The central appeal is the friction between building efficient production and keeping residents supplied through recurring crises. If you prefer a forgiving builder, dislike micromanaging resources, or want combat and exploration to dominate, the available descriptions provide less reason to choose it.
