The SABRENT HB-ROAY is a compact, Ally-shaped USB hub that adds two USB-A ports and one USB-C connection to an ASUS ROG Ally. It also accepts USB-C Power Delivery input rated up to 100W, letting you use wired peripherals while passing power through. Sabrent does not list HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet, or card-reader functions, so treat it as a three-port USB expansion hub—not a full video dock.

What the SABRENT HB-ROAY adds to a ROG Ally

Sabrent describes the HB-ROAY as designed especially for the ASUS ROG Ally, with a lightweight, form-fitted, color-matched shape. The official listing identifies the product as SKU HB-ROAY and specifies three downstream USB connections:

  • Two USB-A ports for accessories such as a keyboard, mouse, controller, storage drive, or other USB devices.
  • One USB-C port that can accept power input or operate as a standard USB port, according to Sabrent.
  • USB 3.2 Gen 1×1 data with a stated maximum of up to 5Gbps.

The 5Gbps figure is the interface ceiling published by the manufacturer, not an independent benchmark. Actual transfer rates depend on the connected device, storage, cables, and workload.

Power pass-through: what “up to 100W” means

The hub’s USB-C connection is specified as an optional power input supporting up to 100W PD3.0 with a suitable power source. That is the hub port’s stated ceiling; it does not promise that the ROG Ally itself will charge at 100W. The handheld, charger, cable, and negotiated USB Power Delivery profile determine the power the Ally can actually draw.

#1 Best Overall
SABRENT 7-Port USB-C Hub, 48W Powered, 5Gbps, 3 USB-A + 4 USB-C (HB-3A4C)
  • 7-Port Hub for Maximum Expansion: Add seven USB ports to your Mac, PC, Steam Deck, or ROG Ally. Includes 3 USB-A and 4 USB-C 5Gbps ports (USB 3.2 Gen 1x1) for full connectivity flexibility.
  • Independent Power Switches: Each port includes a dedicated on/off switch with white LED indicators for full control over every connected device.
  • Fast Power Delivery Support: Three USB-C ports deliver 5V/900mA while the fourth supports up to 20W PD to power high-demand accessories or charge devices.
  • Robust Aluminum Build: Durable, heat-dissipating aluminum alloy housing ensures stable performance under load. Includes 48W power adapter for reliable use.
  • Universal Compatibility: Works with Windows, macOS, Linux, and most USB-C host devices. Plug-and-play convenience with no drivers required.

Using the power input

  1. Connect your USB peripherals to the HB-ROAY.
  2. Connect a compatible USB-C PD charger to the hub’s USB-C power input.
  3. Connect the hub to the ROG Ally and check the Ally’s charging status.

A charger is not listed among the included items. Sabrent’s box contents are the hub and a warranty card, so supply a suitable PD charger separately if you need pass-through charging.

What it does not provide

HDMI or other video output is not included in Sabrent’s published port list. The HB-ROAY therefore should not be selected for connecting the Ally to a television or monitor. The reviewed specification also does not list Ethernet, an SD or microSD reader, a stand, or other docking features.

Rank #2
SABRENT USB-C Hub, USB-C to 4K@60Hz HDMI, 100W PD (HB-TC5P)
  • ONE USB-C PORT BECOMES FIVE: This SABRENT hub turns a single USB-C port into 4K@60Hz HDMI video, 3x USB-A (1x 5Gbps, 2x 480Mbps) and a 100W USB-C Power Delivery input that charges your computer while you work. Video output requires a host port with DisplayPort Alt Mode — check that first.
  • CHECK YOUR PORT BEFORE YOU ORDER: HDMI video works only when your computer's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. Many USB-C ports carry data or power only, and on those the HDMI output will not send a picture. Look up DP Alt Mode support for your exact laptop or tablet model first.
  • 4K@60HZ TO ONE EXTERNAL DISPLAY: HDMI 2.0 output drives a single monitor, TV or projector at up to 4K@60Hz. There is one HDMI port, so this hub does not run dual monitors, and it does not output DisplayPort or VGA. Apple M1 and M2 MacBooks support one external display by design.
  • USB EXPANSION WITH NO DRIVERS: 1x USB 3.0 port at 5Gbps for an external SSD or flash drive, plus 2x USB 2.0 ports at 480Mbps for a keyboard, mouse, printer or headset. Nothing to install — Windows, macOS, ChromeOS and Linux recognize it as soon as you plug it in.
  • TRAVEL-READY ALUMINUM BUILD: Lightweight aluminum shell with an integrated USB-C cable, sized for a laptop sleeve alongside a MacBook, Windows laptop or tablet. The hub's USB-C port is a power input only: connect your USB-C charger there for up to 100W pass-through, of which the hub itself draws up to about 15W. It does not accept a drive, a display or any other device.

Fit and compatibility

Designed for the ASUS ROG Ally

The physical design is intended for the ASUS ROG Ally (2023). Sabrent’s product page does not confirm compatibility with the ROG Ally X or other handheld revisions, so verify the exact model before buying. ASUS provides model information and support materials on its ROG Ally (2023) support page.

Will this fit?

The manufacturer calls the hub form-fitted for the ROG Ally, but no independent fit test or clearance measurement is published in the available specifications. Do not assume the same physical fit on another handheld, a case, or a revised Ally chassis without confirmation.

Setup and everyday use

Sabrent describes the HB-ROAY as bus-powered, plug-and-play, and driver-free, with optional power input. In normal use, attach the hub to the Ally, connect USB devices, and add a PD charger to the hub when you want power pass-through. Because no independent performance, thermal, or durability testing is established here, regard the manufacturer’s specifications as the available evidence rather than a guarantee of a particular sustained speed or charging result.

Price, availability, and warranty terms

When checked on September 27, 2026, Sabrent’s direct product page showed $16.99, free shipping estimated at 5–8 business days, and 30-day returns. These store terms can change, so confirm the current price, delivery estimate, and return policy before ordering. B&H’s specification page reported the item as currently unavailable when checked; retailer inventory is subject to change.

Sabrent says registration within 90 days extends warranty coverage to two years. Review the current warranty policy and registration conditions at purchase rather than treating that statement as universal coverage without completing the required registration.

Who should buy the HB-ROAY?

A good match if you need

  • Two USB-A ports and an additional USB-C connection on an Ally.
  • A small, lightweight attachment shaped for the ASUS ROG Ally (2023).
  • Optional USB-C PD power input while peripherals remain connected.
  • A simple hub that does not require drivers.

Choose another type of accessory if you need

  • HDMI or DisplayPort monitor and TV output.
  • Ethernet, SD or microSD storage access, or a built-in stand.
  • Confirmed fit for the ROG Ally X or a different handheld model.
  • Independent test data for sustained transfer speed, thermals, or long-term durability.

Bottom line

The SABRENT HB-ROAY is a narrowly focused ROG Ally accessory: it adds three USB connections in a compact, device-shaped design and can accept up to 100W PD3.0 input through its USB-C port. Buy it for peripheral expansion and optional charging pass-through. Do not buy it expecting a monitor dock or confirmed compatibility beyond the ASUS ROG Ally model identified by Sabrent.
