Enigma of Fear does not have a verified conventional cheat-code menu. The useful “cheats” for this 28 November 2024 investigation game are evidence-reading habits, puzzle solutions, secret routes and achievement conditions. Mia’s search for her missing father in the Perimeter is deliberately non-linear, so you can explore freely, ask partner agents for help and use the guide sections below only when you need them.
What counts as a cheat in Enigma of Fear?
The official Steam description calls Enigma of Fear “a game of investigation and mystery in Pixel Art/3D where your deduction is your guide.” That description is a good explanation of why ordinary code lists are a poor fit. The game’s progression comes from examining documents, connecting clues, using equipment, reading Mia’s mental map and deciding where to investigate next. The available evidence confirms puzzle answers, secrets and unlock conditions, but it does not establish a developer console, button sequence or password that grants items or skips the investigation.

Use the word cheats here to mean practical help: a way to avoid needless backtracking, a reminder about an overlooked clue, a spoiler-marked solution to a puzzle, or the exact actions for a hidden achievement. Those methods preserve the game’s intended systems instead of promising a code that has not been documented.
Start with a spoiler-light investigation routine
Follow clues, not a rigid level order
Enigma of Fear supports non-linear exploration. A walkthrough route can reduce repeated trips between locations, but it is guidance rather than a mandatory sequence. If a door, document or environmental detail suggests another lead, follow it; the game is built to let deduction determine your next destination. Return to an earlier area when new equipment or information changes what you can interpret there.

Read every document and inspect evidence closely
Documents are not decorative collectibles. Read them completely, note names and unusual wording, and inspect evidence until the game has registered the interaction. When a clue appears ambiguous, compare it with the objects, symbols or locations it references instead of guessing a password immediately. A short note can explain why a later room matters, while a visual detail can reveal that an apparently finished location still has an actionable object.
Use equipment as an investigative tool
Equipment is part of the deduction loop. If an item seems useless in a normal view, test it in the location where the clue points. Re-check suspicious surfaces after acquiring a new tool; the game expects you to reinterpret earlier discoveries. Keep track of which objects you have examined and which interactions produced a new entry, rather than assuming that picking something up completed its role.
Revisit Mia’s mental map
Mia’s mental map is one of the game’s named core systems. Use it as a working notebook: identify unresolved marks, compare connected areas and look for a location you have not visited since receiving a new clue. The map is especially helpful after a story conversation, because the next lead may be a place you already passed through rather than a newly opened corridor.

Ask partner agents before looking up a full answer
The game description allows Mia to ask partner agents for help or reminders. Treat that support as the first escalation when you are stuck. It can restore context without revealing every action. Only move to the spoiler-heavy sections below when an in-game hint, a second inspection and a map review have failed to identify the next step.

The game does not require you to commit to one approach for an entire playthrough. You can explore freely, consult a reminder, then return to unguided investigation. Save a full route for a point where you have decided that avoiding backtracking matters more than preserving surprise.
Spoiler warning: area solutions, Samuel’s chain and the final secret
The instructions from this point expose optional content, achievement conditions and a late secret. They are based on an English Steam Community walkthrough by ewwsen, translated and proofread by mot, rather than on official developer instructions. The guide organizes its route by game area and warns that it contains spoilers. The exact room-by-room solutions are not reproduced here where the available evidence does not state them; the confirmed high-impact unlock steps are listed precisely.

Samuel’s Cursed Items mode
Is Samuel required?
No. The walkthrough states that Samuel’s gameplay is not required to complete the main story. You can finish the central investigation without solving this optional sequence. It exists for players who want an additional challenge, the associated achievement route and the final secret described below.

During Mia’s gameplay, you can find 20 Cursed Items. In Samuel’s mode, each item is tied to an enigma. The community walkthrough says these puzzles involve interacting with game files, so treat the sequence as an unusual meta-puzzle rather than a normal room combination. Keep a written checklist of the 20 items and record which enigmas you have completed; otherwise it is easy to revisit the same clues while missing one item.
How the sequence advances
- Find the Cursed Items while playing as Mia and document their locations.
- Enter Samuel’s mode and solve the enigma associated with each item, following the game’s required file interactions exactly.
- Complete all 20 item enigmas. The walkthrough says this causes Samuel to be called by the Other Side.
- Interact with Agatha when that event has occurred. The interaction enables the next step in the sequence.
The official Steam achievement list includes an achievement for solving all Cursed Items enigmas as Samuel, which corroborates this as a formal achievement path rather than an incidental trick. The guide’s account of the chain is community-reported, so wording or interaction prompts can differ if a later game update changes them.

Final secret route: exact order and interactions
Warning: this is a late-game, highly spoiler-heavy sequence. Do not follow it if you want to discover the secret naturally.
- Finish Samuel’s Cursed Items sequence and complete the interaction with Agatha.
- After Samuel transcends, return to the computer.
- Inspect the question-mark map shown there.
- Equip the UV light and locate the marked pillars.
- Hit each pillar three times, using this exact order: 0, 4, 1, 3.
- Go to the scarecrow near Verity’s car. A sword appears there after the pillar sequence.
- Interact with the sword to trigger the secret achievement.
The order and three-hit requirement are findings reported by the community walkthrough. If nothing appears, verify that every Cursed Items enigma is complete, that you interacted with Agatha, that you inspected the question-mark map after transcending and that each pillar received exactly three UV-light hits in the stated order. Do not assume that merely owning the items or visiting the pillars satisfies the chain.

Steam lists 19 achievements for Enigma of Fear. The most efficient way to pursue them is to keep the main-story investigation separate from optional cleanup: first record story-critical clues and area interactions, then return for secrets once you understand the map. The Cursed Items achievement is specifically tied to solving all 20 enigmas as Samuel, so partial progress should be tracked independently from ordinary exploration.

Because the game has multiple endings and non-linear progression, an achievement guide should be treated as a route planner, not proof that every player must perform actions in one universal order. If an achievement does not unlock, reload only after confirming the prerequisite interactions rather than repeating random steps.
How to recover when you are stuck
You cannot identify the next destination
- Read the newest document again and note every proper name, symbol and location reference.
- Check Mia’s mental map for a marked or unresolved area.
- Ask a partner agent for a reminder before consulting a complete solution.
- Return to the last location where you obtained equipment; a new tool may make an old clue actionable.
A puzzle interaction does not trigger
- Confirm that you examined the related evidence instead of merely collecting it.
- Check whether the interaction requires a particular piece of equipment.
- Inspect nearby objects from multiple angles and look for a second document or symbol that supplies the order.
- Leave the room, review the map and come back after completing any newly revealed conversation.
The final secret does not appear
Use the prerequisite checklist rather than improvising: all 20 Cursed Items enigmas solved as Samuel, Agatha interacted with, Samuel transcended, question-mark map inspected, UV light equipped, pillars struck three times each in the order 0-4-1-3, then the scarecrow near Verity’s car checked. The sword is the final interaction; it is not expected to appear before the pillar sequence.
Current update and availability notes
A 18 September 2026 update notice reports seven new languages for evidence and text and a new way to investigate through Mia’s Diary. Those additions can change how clues are presented, so use the language and diary options available in your installed version when following any older walkthrough.
The same notice described console versions and the first DLC, The Secret in the Graveyard, as forthcoming. That wording was forward-looking; it does not establish that either has launched. Check the current official store or platform listing before assuming a console release or DLC access is available for your edition.
What you should not expect from a cheat list
No verified source in the available material documents a conventional cheat menu, universal item codes, a money exploit or a physical accessory that unlocks content. The game is a single-player investigation, and its practical shortcuts are knowledge-based: better evidence handling, deliberate map use, optional agent reminders and clearly marked puzzle solutions. Printed guides, generic peripherals and unrelated merchandise do not solve the game’s clue logic.
If you want the intended experience, begin spoiler-free and use the in-game support systems. If you are cleaning up achievements, switch to the Samuel checklist and reserve the final secret route for last. That approach gives you the benefits of a cheat sheet without mistaking an unverified code for a real feature.
