- Search for
Epson. - Select the Epson printer software or utility.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Uninstall and complete the wizard.
In Windows 10:
- Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
- Search for the Epson software.
- Select it.
- Choose Uninstall.
Some Epson packages add an entry named EPSON Printer Software Uninstall. Use that entry when available. It is preferable to deleting files manually because the uninstaller can remove the package registration and related components.
Restart Windows after the uninstall completes.
3. Install the complete package
Use Epson’s official support or Download Center and search by the exact printer model. Select the package intended for your Windows version and system architecture. Install the printer driver and any required Epson utility together rather than replacing only the missing DLL.
If the installer requests a USB connection, connect the printer only at the point instructed. For a network printer, confirm that the printer is on the same network and use the Epson discovery step when offered.
Test the repair by opening Settings > Printers & scanners, selecting the Epson printer, and printing a test page. If the error no longer appears when the Epson utility or print job starts, the package was repaired.
If the installer says that the printer is already installed, remove the old printer from Printers & scanners, restart Windows, and run the Epson installer again. Do not remove random files from the Windows Driver Store.
Update or reinstall the driver through Windows
Windows may provide a compatible printer driver, particularly when the original Epson package is unavailable.
Check Windows Update driver packages
- Open Settings.

Remove and add the printer again
If the printer entry is broken:
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners in Windows 11, or Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners in Windows 10.
- Select the Epson printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Restart Windows.
- Return to the same page.
- Select Add device.
- Select the Epson printer when it appears.
If Windows cannot find it, choose the option to add the printer manually and confirm the USB cable, network connection, or printer address. A Windows-provided driver may restore printing, but model-specific Epson features may require Epson’s full package.
Manually checking every driver version can be tedious, especially after a Windows upgrade leaves several old printer entries behind. Microsoft warns that restoring a threat can put it back on the device. If the source is uncertain, remove the Epson package, run a full or Offline scan, and reinstall the driver from the official source instead.
Verify the file path, signature, and architecture
The correct location depends on the Epson package. ep0lvr1a.dll may be stored inside an Epson installation directory or Windows Driver Store rather than directly in C:WindowsSystem32.

For a recent system change, use System Restore:
- Open Start.
- Type
Create a restore point. - Open the matching result.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the error began.
- Review the affected programs.
- Complete the restore and restart Windows.
System Restore can remove later applications and driver changes. It does not replace a current Epson installation, so reinstall the correct printer package afterward if necessary.
If the error appears after uninstalling the printer, an Epson startup utility may still be launching and looking for the old DLL. Check Settings > Apps > Startup and the Epson installed-program entries. Remove the obsolete utility through its uninstaller, or reinstall the complete package if the utility is still required.
For old Epson hardware, the newest Windows version may not have a current driver from Epson. Use the latest package officially offered for that model and Windows version. What not to do
Do not download a standalone DLL
Random DLL downloads can contain malware, the wrong architecture, or a file from an unrelated Epson package. Even a genuine file may not match the printer utility or its dependencies. There is no reliable official standalone Epson download for ep0lvr1a.dll.
Do not copy it into System32 or SysWOW64
