What ep0lvr1v.dll means
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →ep0lvr1v.dll is associated with an Epson printer-driver package, not with Windows itself. Public file records identify it as an EPSON Printer Driver component associated with SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION, although Epson does not appear to publish a page naming this DLL directly.
The safest repair is to reinstall the Epson driver for the exact printer model and Windows architecture. Do not begin by downloading a standalone DLL or copying one into System32.
File identification
| Item | What is known |
|---|---|
| File | ep0lvr1v.dll |
| Category | Hardware driver component |
| Associated software | Epson printer-driver package |
| Windows component | Not a normal Windows system file |
| Confirmed version and architecture | Not independently confirmed |
| Possible location | Epson driver package or Windows Driver Store |
Public records report a version and file size, but their architecture and metadata conflict. Treat those details as unconfirmed. The exact Epson printer model that installed the file cannot be determined from the filename alone.
What the error means
You may see wording such as:
- “The program can’t start because ep0lvr1v.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “Error loading ep0lvr1v.dll.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because ep0lvr1v.dll was not found.”
- “Failed to load EP0LVR1V.DLL.”
- “Cannot find ep0lvr1v.dll.”
These messages usually mean that an Epson-related program or printer component requested the DLL and Windows could not load it. The file may be absent, quarantined, damaged, incompatible with the process, or present while one of its dependencies is missing.

The problem commonly follows an Epson printer removal, failed driver installation, Windows Update, antivirus quarantine, disk cleanup, system cloning, or restoration from an older backup.
Fix 1: Reinstall the exact Epson printer package
This is the primary fix.
1. Identify the printer model
Check the label on the printer, its original documentation, or Windows:
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Look for the Epson printer name and model.
- Write down the complete model designation, including any regional suffix.
If the printer is not listed, check the physical label before downloading anything. A similar Epson model may use a different package.
2. Check the Windows architecture
- Press Windows + I.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Find System type.
Use the Epson package explicitly listed for that Windows architecture and printer model. Do not choose a package merely because its filename resembles another Epson driver.
3. Remove the affected printer
If the printer is still listed:
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the affected Epson printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
If Epson’s own uninstall utility is present under Settings → Apps → Installed apps, remove the related Epson software when the manufacturer’s instructions call for it. Avoid deleting unrelated Epson software if you use another Epson device.
4. Download the correct package
Use Epson’s official Support or Download Center pages and search for the exact model. Choose the package for Windows 10 or Windows 11 and the architecture shown in System type.
Prefer the model-specific printer driver or the Drivers and Utilities Combo Package when Epson provides one. Do not use a generic DLL repository.
5. Install it in the proper order
- Close printing applications.
- Run the downloaded Epson installer.
- Accept the license terms.
- Allow the installer to remove or replace older Epson components if requested.
- Connect the printer only when the installer asks you to do so.
- Restart Windows after the installation completes.
- Return to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Add the printer if it was not added automatically.
- Print a test page.
The repair worked if the Epson utility opens, Windows shows the printer as ready, and the original application no longer reports ep0lvr1v.dll.
If the installer refuses to proceed, disconnect the printer, restart Windows, remove the old printer entry, and run the Epson installer again. Do not manually place a DLL in the Driver Store.
If you want to avoid hunting through multiple driver packages and guessing which device driver is stale, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver problems; its free scan identifies issues, while repair and driver installation require the full version.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Windows Security may have removed the DLL after detecting a suspicious or altered file.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Expand any entry mentioning the Epson installer, printer driver, or
ep0lvr1v.dll.
Only restore or allow the file if all of the following are true:
Recommended Free Tools
- It came from an official Epson installation.
- The printer model matches your hardware.
- The installer was downloaded from Epson.
- The file is digitally signed as expected.
- A current security scan does not flag the installation.
Do not restore a file obtained from an unknown DLL site. If Defender repeatedly removes the file after a legitimate reinstall, leave it quarantined and investigate the detection, the installer signature, and the Epson package rather than adding a blanket antivirus exclusion.

Fix 3: Check whether the file exists in the driver package
Do not use this step to copy files. It helps distinguish a missing DLL from a missing dependency.
You may find Epson components beneath a path resembling:
C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepository
A related package may use a folder beginning with a name such as:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
prnep00l.inf_
The exact folder name varies. Windows manages the Driver Store, and its contents should be restored through the signed Epson driver package.
If ep0lvr1v.dll exists but the error remains, the requested module may be a dependency rather than the DLL itself. Reinstalling the complete Epson package is safer than replacing one file.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use these commands when the issue began after broader Windows corruption, failed servicing, cloning, or an update that affected several programs. They are secondary checks for an Epson driver problem.
- Open the Start menu.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
DISM repairs the Windows component store, while SFC checks protected Windows files. Neither command is a substitute for reinstalling the Epson driver.

If SFC reports that it could not repair some files, restart and run it again after DISM completes. If the result is clean but the Epson error remains, return to the Epson package rather than treating the DLL as a Windows runtime file.
Fix 5: Check the printer driver through Windows
A stale printer entry can continue requesting an old component.
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Remove the affected Epson printer.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current model-specific Epson package.
- Add the printer again.
Advanced administrators can inspect third-party driver packages by opening Command Prompt as administrator and running:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchespnputil /enum-drivers
Do not remove an oem#.inf package merely because it appears related to Epson. Removing the wrong package can affect another printer. If an old package must be removed, first confirm its provider, class, version, and associated hardware.
Fix 6: Use System Restore after a recent change
If the error appeared immediately after a driver update, Windows update, cleanup operation, or software installation, System Restore may reverse the change.

- Press Windows + R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Review the affected programs.
- Select Finish and allow Windows to restart.
System Restore normally affects system files, drivers, settings, and installed programs, not personal documents. Afterward, reinstall the correct Epson package if the printer is no longer available.
Why regsvr32 usually does not help
Do not normally run:
regsvr32 ep0lvr1v.dll
Printer-driver DLLs are generally installed and referenced through the driver package and Windows print infrastructure. They are not necessarily self-registering COM libraries. regsvr32 may report that an entry point or registration procedure is missing, and that result does not repair the Epson installation.

What not to do
- Do not download
ep0lvr1v.dllfrom a random DLL website. - Do not copy an unverified file into
System32,SysWOW64, or the Driver Store. - Do not substitute a similarly named
EP0LVR1*file. - Do not assume
System32is the correct location on every system. - Do not disable antivirus protection simply to install a DLL.
- Do not delete Driver Store packages without confirming the exact printer and provider.
- Do not install a 32-bit or 64-bit package based on a third-party file listing.
- Do not treat the filename alone as proof that a file is safe.
A standalone download can have the wrong version, architecture, dependencies, signature, or source. It may also hide malware while leaving the damaged printer package unchanged.
If no Epson software is installed
If no Epson printer or Epson utility is present, do not restore the DLL immediately. Find the program requesting it:
- Note the application name shown in the error.
- Open Task Manager if the error appears during startup.
- Check the executable’s installation folder.
- Run a full Windows Security scan.
- Review recently installed programs and scheduled startup entries.
A random application requesting an Epson printer-driver DLL deserves further malware scrutiny. The filename alone cannot establish that the request is legitimate.
Frequently asked questions
Is ep0lvr1v.dll part of Windows?
No. It is associated with an Epson printer-driver package. There is no verified evidence that it ships as a normal component of current Windows installations.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Which Epson printer uses it?
The filename alone does not identify a specific model. Install the package for the exact printer connected to the computer.
Should I copy it into System32?
No. The correct package may use a different architecture, dependency set, or Driver Store location. Reinstall the signed Epson package instead.
Why does Windows say the module is missing when the file exists?
A dependency may be missing, the DLL may be damaged, the process may be using the wrong architecture, or security software may be blocking the load.
Do I need Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?
Not as a first step. ep0lvr1v.dll is associated with an Epson printer driver, not a normal Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET runtime component.
What if reinstalling the driver does not work?
Check quarantine history, confirm the printer model and Windows architecture, remove the old printer entry, inspect the driver package, run DISM and SFC, and consider System Restore. If the error returns after every reinstall, review Epson installation logs, Event Viewer, disk health, and endpoint-security detections.
