The 60-second answer
ep0lxfps.dll is associated with Epson’s Universal Printing System XPS and Universal Print driver family. It is not a normal Windows runtime such as Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET.
The safest fix is to identify the Epson printer installed on the PC, remove any damaged or obsolete Epson printer software, and install the current driver for that exact model from Epson’s official Download Center. Do not download a loose copy of the DLL and copy it into System32.
Public file records identify 32-bit copies with internal name EP0LXFPS, version 0.4.1.0, and reported sizes of about 99 KB and 163.5 KB. Those records come from third-party file databases, not an Epson DLL inventory, so they should not be used to choose a replacement file.

What causes the ep0lxfps.dll error
The message usually appears when Windows or an Epson printer component tries to load an incomplete driver package. Common causes include:

The exact application that triggers the error is not established. It may happen while adding a printer, opening printer properties, printing, or loading an Epson driver component.
Fix 1: Reinstall the exact Epson printer driver
This is the most likely solution.
Identify the printer model
- Press
Windows+I. - Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Note the exact Epson model shown in the list.
- If several Epson printers are listed, identify which one was used when the error began.
If no printer is listed, check the physical label on the printer or its previous installation records. Do not guess between similar Epson model names.
Remove the broken printer entry
- Open Settings with
Windows+I. - Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the obsolete Epson printer.
- Select Remove and confirm.
- Restart Windows.
If the printer cannot be removed, open Control Panel:

control printers. - Press Enter.
- Right-click the Epson printer.
- Select Remove device.
Do not delete random files from C:WindowsSystem32 or the Driver Store.
Download and install the correct package
- Open Epson’s official Download Center in your browser.
- Search for the exact printer model.
- Select Windows 10 or Windows 11 as appropriate.
- Select the package matching the computer’s architecture when Epson provides that choice.
- Download the listed Printer Driver, ESC/P Printer Driver, or Universal Print Driver.
- Run the downloaded Epson installer.
- Follow its connection and printer-detection instructions.
- Restart Windows when installation finishes.
- Print a Windows test page.
To print a test page, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners, select the Epson printer, choose Printer properties, and select Print Test Page.
The repair worked if the installer completes without an EP0LXFPS error, the printer appears normally, and the test page prints. If the same message returns, continue with the cleanup and Driver Store checks below.

An old printer entry can continue calling a driver component after the main Epson software has been removed.
- Press
Windows+X. - Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and, if present, Software devices.
- Look for the Epson printer or an unknown device associated with it.
- Right-click only the clearly identified obsolete Epson device.
- Select Uninstall device.
- If Windows offers Attempt to remove the driver for this device, select it only when you are sure the device is the obsolete Epson installation.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current Epson package for the printer.
For a fuller inventory, open Command Prompt as administrator:
- Press Start.
- Type
cmd. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
pnputil /enum-drivers
Review the output for Epson-related provider names and printer-class packages. Do not remove a package merely because its name looks old.
Microsoft documents removal with:
pnputil /delete-driver <oem#.inf> /uninstall
Replace <oem#.inf> with the exact package identified during inspection. Removing the wrong Driver Store package can affect another printer or make Windows behave unpredictably. If you cannot confidently identify the Epson INF, leave it installed and use the Epson installer or Device Manager instead.

Security software may quarantine a printer component, although reinstalling the complete signed package is safer than restoring a loose file.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent entries for an Epson driver file or printer installation.
- Open the entry and inspect its original path and detected item.
- Restore or allow it only if the file clearly came from a legitimate Epson driver package and you are certain it is not a threat.
- Prefer downloading and reinstalling the Epson package after confirming the quarantine event.
If the file was found in a temporary folder, an unknown application directory, or a DLL download, do not restore it. Run a security scan and reinstall the printer driver from Epson instead.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Windows repair commands will not recreate an Epson driver package. They are useful when other Windows files are also failing, Windows Update is damaged, or printer components began failing after broader system corruption.

Open an elevated Command Prompt:
- Press Start.
- Type
cmd. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run DISM first:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run System File Checker:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the Epson printer again.
Microsoft’s supported sequence is DISM followed by SFC. DISM repairs the Windows component store, while SFC checks protected Windows system files. Neither command is a substitute for reinstalling the Epson driver.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and test. If it reports that it could not repair some files, repeat the Epson driver installation after restarting and investigate the Windows repair result separately.

Fix 5: Check the architecture and Driver Store location
Available public records identify 32-bit copies of ep0lxfps.dll. A 64-bit Windows installation can still use 32-bit printer components, so finding an x86 folder does not automatically mean the installation is wrong.
Printer drivers are managed through the Windows Driver Store. A relevant file may be under a path resembling:
C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepository...x86
The exact folder varies by Epson package and Windows version. The file is not normally repaired by placing a loose copy directly in:
C:WindowsSystem32
Do not mix a DLL from one Epson driver generation with the INF, catalog, registry entries, and supporting files from another. A package can contain multiple files that must match one another.
To check Windows architecture:
- Press
Windows+I. - Select System.
- Select About.
- Check System type.
Then return to Epson’s model-specific download page and install the package intended for that printer and Windows architecture.

Do not use regsvr32 for this file
regsvr32 is for DLLs that support COM self-registration through an appropriate registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. There is no reliable public evidence that EP0LXFPS.dll is such a component.
Running commands such as these is therefore not a proper repair:
regsvr32 ep0lxfps.dll
regsvr32 C:WindowsSystem32ep0lxfps.dll
Printer-driver DLLs are normally installed through an INF-based package. If the package is incomplete, register commands do not restore its catalog, dependencies, configuration, or printer associations.

Restoring the DLL may be unnecessary if the error comes from an orphaned printer installation.
- Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Remove every obsolete Epson printer.
- Open Device Manager.
- Remove only clearly identified obsolete Epson printer devices.
- Use Programs and Features in Control Panel to uninstall Epson printer software that is no longer needed.
- Restart Windows.
If the message disappears after removal, the orphaned printer package was the trigger. If another application still reports the DLL, inspect its shortcut, startup entry, and error path before deleting anything else.

What “module could not be found” really means
The message “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that ep0lxfps.dll itself is absent. Windows may have found the DLL but failed to load a dependency required by it.
That is another reason not to copy a single DLL from a download site. A replacement may have the wrong architecture, belong to another Epson package, or leave the actual missing dependency unresolved. Reinstalling the complete driver gives Windows the related files and configuration together.

Is ep0lxfps.dll a Windows system file?
No reliable evidence identifies it as a native Windows component. Public metadata associates it with SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION and Epson’s Universal Printing System XPS driver family.
Is it part of Microsoft Visual C++ or DirectX?
There is no meaningful evidence connecting this filename with Visual C++ Redistributable, DirectX, .NET, or a game. Installing those packages merely because this error appears is not the correct first step.

Is there a 64-bit version?
Public records consistently describe 32-bit copies. Windows 64-bit can still load 32-bit printer components, but the correct architecture depends on the installed Epson package. Do not infer the required file from a third-party listing.
Can I download ep0lxfps.dll separately?
Do not use random DLL download sites. A file can contain malware, have the wrong version or architecture, or fail because another driver dependency is missing. Use the exact Epson printer package instead.
Should I copy it into System32 or SysWOW64?
No. Manual copying can create mismatched versions and bypass the Driver Store. Install the Epson package through its installer.
What if reinstalling the driver does not work?
Record the Epson model, Windows version, package name, exact error text, operation that triggers it, and the full path Windows reports. Then check Event Viewer under Windows Logs → Application and Windows Logs → System for related printer or driver events. Also confirm whether the error names the DLL itself or only a missing module.
Can System Restore help?
If the problem began immediately after a known driver or software change and a suitable restore point exists, System Restore may reverse that change without affecting personal files. It should not be the first choice when a current Epson driver is available.
