Write down:
- The exact error message
- The program or Epson utility showing it
- Your Epson printer model

- Whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit
Common messages include:
- “The program can’t start because ep0nmf6c.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “There was a problem starting ep0nmf6c.dll.”
- “Error loading ep0nmf6c.dll.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because ep0nmf6c.dll was not found.”
- “ep0nmf6c.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
These are generic Windows loader messages. They do not identify the exact Epson printer model or prove that the named DLL itself is the only missing component.
What ep0nmf6c.dll is
Public file metadata identifies ep0nmf6c.dll as an EPSON Printer Driver component associated with SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION. Reported metadata describes it as a 32-bit file with version 6.1.6769.0 and a size of approximately 60 KB.
Those details come from third-party file metadata rather than an Epson package manifest, so treat them as reported identification details, not as an official Epson specification. The filename alone does not reveal which Epson printer installed it.

This is not known to be:
- A Windows system component
- A Microsoft Visual C++ runtime file
- A DirectX file
- A .NET file
- A file that belongs automatically in
C:WindowsSystem32 - A file that belongs automatically in
C:WindowsSysWOW64
A 32-bit Epson component can run on 64-bit Windows when it is part of a 32-bit printer utility or driver process. Windows architecture and application architecture are separate, so do not copy a replacement into a folder based only on its bitness.
Fix 1: Reinstall the complete Epson package
This is the safest and most likely fix. A damaged or incomplete Epson installation may have removed the DLL, installed only part of the driver, or left an Epson utility pointing to an old location.
Identify the correct printer
Find the model from the printer label, Windows printer settings, or the original installation paperwork. Then open Epson’s official support or Download Center and search for that exact model.
Select:
- Your printer model
- Your Windows version
- The correct Windows architecture when Epson presents that choice
- The current printer driver or the model’s complete “Drivers and Utilities Combo Package Installer”
Do not search for ep0nmf6c.dll as though it were a standalone product. Epson distributes printer software by model, and there is no universal ep0nmf6c.dll package.

On Windows 11:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Choose Installed apps.
- Search for the Epson printer or Epson printer software.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Follow the Epson uninstaller.
On Windows 10:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Open Apps & features.
- Select the Epson product.
- Choose Uninstall.
Older Epson installations may also include an entry under Start > Epson > your product > EPSON Printer Software Uninstall.
Disconnect the printer after starting the cleanup if the Epson instructions request it, close applications that may be printing, and restart Windows after the uninstall completes.
Install the fresh package
Run the Epson installer you downloaded from the official Epson support page. Reconnect or power on the printer only when the installer requests it.

The installer should restore the driver, printer utilities, status monitor and related components as a matching set. Restart Windows again if the installer requests it.
Check the result
The repair worked if:
- The Epson utility opens without the DLL message
- Windows can print a test page
- Epson status or maintenance tools open normally
- The error does not return after a restart
If the same message returns immediately, note which Epson executable displays it. An old status monitor or utility may be launching even though the current printer driver is working.
Fix 2: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
Windows Defender or another security product may have removed a printer component after an alert. Do not restore the file automatically just because its name matches an online listing.
In Windows Security:
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Open the relevant detection.
- Inspect the original file path, detection name, publisher and signature information.
If the file was inside the expected Epson installation directory and the Epson package is genuine, reinstalling the complete package is usually safer than restoring a loose quarantined file. If you restore a detected file, Microsoft notes that Defender may detect it again.
Do not create a permanent exclusion for the filename without establishing what installed it and why the security product removed it.

Fix 3: Update or reinstall the printer driver
A printer replacement, Windows update or interrupted Epson installer can leave an old driver package behind. Device Manager can help remove that stale device entry, but the replacement driver should still come from Epson.
Remove the old printer in Settings
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices on Windows 11, or Devices on Windows 10.
- Open Printers & scanners.
- Select the old Epson printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Restart Windows.
Then install the exact Epson package for the current model.

Check Device Manager
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues and, if present, Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Look for the Epson device or an entry with a warning icon.
- Right-click the relevant Epson entry.
- Choose Uninstall device.
- Confirm removal only when you are sure it is the obsolete printer entry.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the correct Epson driver.
Do not use Update driver to force a random local DLL into the device. The objective is to restore the complete driver package, not just satisfy the loader with a file of the same name.

Fix 4: Check the DLL path and missing dependencies
“Specified module could not be found” does not always mean the named DLL is absent. Windows may be reporting that a dependency required by ep0nmf6c.dll cannot be loaded.
If the error includes a path, check whether that folder still exists. Do not copy the DLL into System32, SysWOW64 or an application folder unless Epson’s installer places it there.
A damaged dependency can also produce:
- A “not designed to run on Windows” message
- A sudden failure after an architecture change
- A failure in one Epson utility while printing still works
- A failure after restoring an old Windows image
The cleanest response is to remove and reinstall the complete Epson package. Installing random Visual C++ redistributables, DirectX files or .NET components is not justified by this filename alone.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components when other programs are failing
SFC and DISM are useful when Windows itself is damaged, but they are not the primary repair for an Epson-private DLL. Use them when several unrelated applications report missing files, Windows features are malfunctioning, or system corruption began around the same time.

Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC.
- Open Start.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Right-click it.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
A successful SFC scan does not necessarily restore ep0nmf6c.dll, because the file is associated with Epson software rather than the Windows component store. Reinstall Epson afterward if the Epson error remains.

Fix 6: Use System Restore after a recent Epson change
If the error began immediately after an Epson update, removal or printer replacement, System Restore may reverse the change.

- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Choose a restore point dated before the Epson change.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Review the programs and drivers that will be removed or restored.
- Confirm the restore point.
- Allow Windows to restart.
System Restore rolls back system files, registry settings and installed programs. It does not normally remove personal files, but review the affected-program list before confirming.
After the rollback, install a current Epson package rather than continuing to use a damaged older installation.

regsvr32 is not a general DLL repair command. It is intended for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer or DllInstall. There is no public evidence that ep0nmf6c.dll requires self-registration.
Running this command is therefore not a recommended repair:
regsvr32 ep0nmf6c.dll
It can produce another error without fixing the missing dependency or damaged Epson installation.
Avoid isolated DLL download sites as well. A loose replacement can contain malware, use the wrong architecture, have a different version, or fail because another Epson dependency is missing. Copying it into System32 or SysWOW64 can also create a second, harder-to-trace driver conflict.
Use the Epson model-specific support page and installer instead.

If the error still appears
Before contacting Epson support, record:
- Epson printer model
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 edition
- The exact error text
- The executable that displays it
- The full path shown for
ep0nmf6c.dll - Whether reinstalling the complete Epson package changed the error
- Any antivirus detection and original quarantine path
- Relevant entries from Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application
If the error comes from an Epson utility for a printer you no longer own, uninstalling that obsolete Epson component may be the correct solution. If it comes from software used by your current printer, reinstall the exact model package and provide Epson support with the path and executable name.
