Windows may report, “The program can’t start because EP0NXFS6.DLL is missing from your computer,” “Error loading EP0NXFS6.DLL. The specified module could not be found,” or “EP0NXFS6.DLL could not be loaded.”
The 60-second answer is that ep0nxfs6.dll is an obscure 32-bit Epson printer-driver component, associated with Epson Universal Printing System XPS. It is not a Windows system DLL, Visual C++ runtime, DirectX file, or .NET component. The safest fix is to remove the damaged or obsolete Epson printer software and install the correct package for the exact printer model from Epson Support.

Public file metadata identifies EP0NXFS6.DLL as part of Epson Universal Printing System XPS, published by SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION. It is reported as a PE32, or 32-bit, file with version 0.4.1.0.

The file may appear inside an Epson driver package or under a path such as:
C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepository
That location is normal for Windows-managed driver packages. It does not mean the file belongs to Windows itself. A 32-bit Epson component can also be present on 64-bit Windows because 64-bit Windows can run many 32-bit printer applications and support components.
Do not treat public file metadata as proof that every Epson package contains this DLL. Different printer generations and driver packages can contain different files.
Why the error appears
The likely causes are:

Before repairing anything
Write down these details from the error or affected computer:
- Epson printer model
- Windows edition and whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit
- The exact executable named in the error
- The full path shown for
EP0NXFS6.DLL, if available - Whether the error occurs during startup, login, printing, or application launch
- Any recent printer, driver, antivirus, or Windows change
Do not download ep0nxfs6.dll from a random DLL website. Fix 1: Remove and reinstall the Epson printer package
This is the most likely solution.
Remove the printer from Windows
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the affected Epson printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
Removing the printer entry prevents Windows from continuing to use a damaged device configuration.
Uninstall Epson software
- Open Settings with Windows + I.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Search for
Epson. - Uninstall the relevant printer driver, printer utility, status monitor, or universal print software.
- Restart Windows.
On older Windows installations, open Control Panel, select Programs, choose Programs and Features, and remove the Epson entries there.
If the Epson software does not appear in either list, continue with the driver cleanup and reinstall. A missing uninstall entry is common with old packages.
Install the correct package
- Identify the exact Epson printer model from the printer label or its existing Windows entry.
- Open Epson Support in your browser.
- Search for that model.
- Select your Windows version and architecture.
- Download the printer driver or Epson Universal Print Driver listed for that model.
- Run the downloaded installer.
- Follow the setup prompts.
- Restart Windows when installation finishes.
- Print a test page from Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
Epson publishes separate x86 and x64 packages in its catalog. The reported DLL is 32-bit, but that does not mean you should automatically install a 32-bit package. Choose the package that matches your Windows installation and the printer’s supported driver.
If the installer offers both a standard driver and an XPS, PCL, or universal package, use the package recommended for the exact model. A newer universal driver may not repair an old application that specifically expects a legacy Epson XPS component.

If the printer remains listed
If Windows still shows the old printer:
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the printer and choose Remove again.
- Restart Windows.
- Return to the same page and select Add device.
- Install the printer using the Epson installer or the driver offered by Windows.
You can also check Device Manager:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Print queues and Printers.
- Right-click the old Epson device.
- Select Uninstall device.
- If offered, select the option to remove the driver package.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current Epson package.
Do not remove unrelated printer drivers unless you know they belong to the failed installation.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Windows Security or another antivirus program may have quarantined the DLL.

- Open Start.
- Type Windows Security and open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Look for an Epson file, printer driver, or
EP0NXFS6.DLL.
Only restore or allow the file if all of these are true:
- It came from an official Epson installer.
- The file path belongs to the Epson driver installation.
- The detection is clearly a false positive.
- You have verified the publisher and package source.
If the file came from a DLL download site or an unknown folder, do not restore it. Remove the untrusted copy and reinstall the complete driver from Epson.
After restoring a verified file, restart Windows and test printing. If the antivirus removes it again, update the security software and contact Epson or the security vendor rather than repeatedly disabling protection.
Fix 3: Repair the Epson installation through its installer
Some Epson packages provide a Repair, Modify, or Reinstall option.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the Epson package.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Modify, Repair, or Uninstall, depending on what is available.
- Select Repair if offered.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the printer.
If repair is unavailable or fails, uninstall the package completely and reinstall it from the model-specific Epson support page.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use these commands when Windows shows broader corruption symptoms, such as damaged built-in apps, repeated system errors, or failed updates. They normally will not reconstruct an Epson DLL that was uninstalled or quarantined.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the Epson printer again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. If SFC reports that it found and repaired corrupted files, restart and test the original application. If it reports that some files could not be repaired, repeat the Epson driver removal and installation rather than copying a DLL manually.

If the error appears every time Windows starts but you no longer use an Epson printer, an old Epson utility may still be launching.

- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Startup apps.
- Look for Epson, printer monitor, print status, or an unknown entry.
- Select the entry and choose Disable.
- Restart Windows.
Also check Settings > Apps > Installed apps and Control Panel > Programs and Features for old Epson software.
If the message continues, open Event Viewer:
- Press Windows + X.
- Select Event Viewer.
- Expand Windows Logs.
- Select Application.
- Look for an error at the time the message appeared.
- Record the application name, faulting module, and event details.
If no Epson printer or software remains, removing the orphaned startup entry is usually more appropriate than restoring a random copy of the DLL.
Fix 6: Use System Restore after a recent change
If the problem began immediately after a driver update, software removal, or Windows change, System Restore may help.
- Open Start.
- Search for Create a restore point.
- Open it.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the error began.
- Review the affected programs and drivers.
- Start the restore and restart Windows.
System Restore can revert drivers, installed programs, registry settings, and system files without deleting personal documents. It will not necessarily restore a complete Epson package, so reinstall the correct Epson driver afterward if printing still fails.

Do not start with:
regsvr32 ep0nxfs6.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. A printer-driver support DLL may not be self-registering. Running the command can produce another error and does not install the Epson INF, catalog, services, dependencies, or device settings that the driver needs.
Likewise, do not copy the file into:
C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
or into an application folder as a general repair. The correct location is determined by the Epson package and Windows driver installation process.

What if the error says “the specified module could not be found”
That wording does not always mean EP0NXFS6.DLL itself is absent. Windows may have found the named DLL but failed to load one of its dependencies.
The practical fix is still to reinstall the complete Epson package. Do not try to identify and download individual dependency DLLs. If reinstalling does not help, record the executable name, full DLL path, printer model, Windows version, and the Event Viewer entry for Epson support.

What if no printer is connected anymore?
Uninstall old Epson software, remove the printer entry, and inspect Task Manager startup entries. The message may come from a leftover utility rather than a printer you still use.
