The alleged Epic Games Store schedule of 15 free games ending with Red Dead Redemption 2 on December 31, 2025, was not an official giveaway calendar—and it proved inaccurate. Epic confirmed Hogwarts Legacy as a free offer through December 18; the game predicted for that date did not match the reported actual offer, and later entries diverged too.
Was the December 2025 Epic Games Store leak real?
No. It was an unverified social-media post, not a schedule announced by Epic. Notebookcheck described the list as originating on Chinese social media, while PC Guide said it was a QQ-sourced post brought to wider attention by an X account. Neither account establishes that Epic had confirmed the lineup. Notebookcheck’s December 12 report and PC Guide’s coverage document the claim, not an official calendar.

There was also a discrepancy inside the circulated claim: PC Guide noted that the post described sixteen games, but the schedule listed fifteen, apparently skipping a number. That inconsistency is another reason not to treat the post as a verified day-by-day offer list.
What did the leak claim?
The circulating schedule began with Hogwarts Legacy and predicted a new free game each day from December 18 through December 31. These were the titles and dates attributed to the leak, not confirmed Epic offers:

What did Epic officially confirm?
Epic’s Holiday Sale guide said the sale ran from December 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. ET through January 8, 2026, at 11 a.m. ET. It confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy was free on the Epic Games Store through December 18 at 11 a.m. ET. That confirmation supports the first part of the circulating schedule; it does not verify the later titles.
Epic also described separate “Epic Extras,” including cosmetics or in-game currency for selected games and one month of Discord Nitro. Those promotions were separate from the alleged daily game list. Epic’s guide additionally said players who logged at least two hours in Hogwarts Legacy before December 18 could earn a Harry Potter-themed Chocolate Frog Back Bling in Fortnite; Epic warned that the reward could take 24 to 48 hours to arrive.

How did the predictions compare with reported offers?
The schedule began to break at its first unconfirmed entry. TechSpot reported that Jurassic World: Evolution 2, predicted for December 18, did not appear; Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel was offered instead. The December 19 reported offer was Eternights, also absent from the list. By December 22, TechSpot described the leak as completely off. TechSpot’s December 22 report records those mismatches.
That makes the supposed December 31 Red Dead Redemption 2 finale a prediction from a failed leak, not evidence that the game was free on Epic. The promotion was a historical offer period, not an upcoming chance to claim the listed games.

Is Red Dead Redemption 2 free on Epic Games?
The December 2025 leak does not establish that it was. It placed Red Dead Redemption 2 on a claimed December 31 schedule, but the schedule was unverified and later reporting found it wrong. Epic’s official material cited here confirms the Hogwarts Legacy offer only through December 18, not the alleged Red Dead giveaway.
