If Epic Games Launcher shows 0.00 B/s, it may be installing files it has already downloaded rather than failing. Check the download graph’s read/write activity first. If the disk is not busy, work through Epic’s service, speed-limit, connection, cache, DNS, and proxy checks below.
Why Epic Games Launcher can show 0.00 B/s
Epic says the launcher can pause downloading while it installs previously downloaded files to disk. That means a zero network rate by itself does not prove the download has failed. When the rate reaches zero, inspect the read/write portions of the download graph: disk activity can indicate that the launcher is writing files, after which downloading should resume. Epic’s support explanation does not give a universal pause duration or a threshold for abnormal disk activity.
What to check when the disk is not busy
Check Epic’s service status
Visit Epic’s status page to see whether relevant services are having an issue. Status can change, so check it when the slowdown is happening rather than relying on an earlier result. Epic Games Public Status
Make sure the download limit is off
Epic Games Store’s Download Manager has speed-limit controls for new installs and updates. If you want the launcher to use the available connection without a configured cap, check that the limit is disabled. Epic announced the Download Manager on March 27, 2025; its controls are also included in Epic’s slow-download troubleshooting guidance.

Compare your connection
Epic recommends trying a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi, or testing another internet connection if one is available. These comparisons can help isolate a connection issue; they do not, by themselves, show that you need a new router, cable, or other hardware.
Clear cache and check network configuration
Epic’s published troubleshooting steps also include clearing the device cache, allowing Epic domains through relevant network filtering, flushing DNS or trying a public DNS service, and disabling proxy servers. Make configuration changes carefully, especially on a managed work, school, or shared network where you may not control filtering or proxy settings. Follow Epic’s slow-download instructions for the steps it recommends.

If the download still will not continue
Use Epic’s broader Epic Games Launcher troubleshooting guide for additional checks, including launcher updates, system requirements, and clearing launcher cache, along with links to further support. If the graph shows no disk activity and the official checks do not help, the available support guidance does not establish a single cause or a standard wait time; use Epic support rather than assuming the drive must be replaced.
