Yes—the Epic Games Store’s cat-themed mystery giveaway continued into April 2025. On March 27, Epic had confirmed the next mystery handoff would arrive on April 3, but it had not yet officially named the game. Community clues pointed to Cat Quest II; that prediction was later validated. The promotion then transitioned into Epic’s regular weekly free-game rotation rather than remaining a mystery event throughout April.
What Epic confirmed on March 27
The promotion followed Neko Ghost, Jump! with Cat Quest, both presented as part of a cat-themed mystery giveaway run. Cat Quest was available to claim until April 3, 2025, at 15:00 UTC, according to contemporary coverage.

The important confirmation was about the format and timing: Epic was continuing the mystery presentation into the April 3 store refresh. The following title remained hidden behind the teaser. That did not amount to a permanent change to Epic’s free-game policy or a guarantee that every April giveaway would be a mystery game.
Epic’s Spring Sale buyer’s guide also directed players to the Free Games section on March 27 and April 3, supporting the existence of giveaway activity across the end of March and start of April: Epic’s Spring Sale guide.

What was prediction—and what was confirmed later?
Before the April 3 reveal, community speculation centered on Cat Quest II, with Stray and Rain World also discussed. The Cat Quest II theory drew on the apparent cat theme and alleged teaser URL clues, but those clues were not an official announcement.
- March 27: The next mystery title was still undisclosed, and Cat Quest II was only a prediction.
- April 3: Cat Quest II appeared as the next giveaway, validating the leading prediction.
- After April 3: Epic continued its normal weekly giveaway cadence.

The confirmed April 2025 schedule
The full April sequence shows why “the mystery giveaway continued into April” should not be interpreted as “every April giveaway remained a cat-themed mystery.” The later offers followed the ordinary weekly rotation.
| Claim window | Offer | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| March 27–April 3 | Cat Quest | Confirmed prior cat-themed giveaway |
| April 3–10 | Cat Quest II | The predicted follow-up was confirmed |
| April 10–17 | Arcadegeddon | The rotation moved beyond the cat-themed sequence |
| April 17–24 | Botanicula and Firestone Online Idle RPG | Two promotional offers in the weekly listing |
| April 24–May 1 | Chuchel and an Albion Online welcome gift | A game plus a promotional item, not necessarily equivalent offers |
The schedule is documented in Stevivor’s April 2025 roundup. Regional storefronts and time-zone conventions can make the displayed changeover date differ by a day, so historical listings should be read alongside their stated time zone.

How Epic’s free-game program works
Epic normally refreshes its free-game offer every Thursday. Players generally have seven days to complete the claim. Once a game is claimed, it remains permanently attached to the Epic account’s library; it does not need to be downloaded during the promotional window.
“Free” means free to claim during the window—not permanently free for anyone who visits the store later. A promotional item, such as the Albion Online welcome gift, can also have different eligibility or platform terms from a standalone PC game.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

If an offer has disappeared from the Free Games page, first check the library. A game that was successfully claimed should remain there even after the weekly rotation ends. If the claim is blocked, enable two-factor authentication and try again while the offer is still active.
Availability can vary by country, platform, and account eligibility, especially for promotional items and mobile offers. The safest interpretation of the March 27 news was therefore limited: Epic extended the mystery-style presentation into the April 3 handoff, and Cat Quest II later proved to be the correct prediction. It did not establish that the entire month of April would consist of mystery giveaways.
