Epic Games sued Ediz Atas, whom it identifies as Sincey Cheats and Vanta Cheats, in June 2025 over alleged Fortnite cheating software called Vanta. An August court order allowed some early discovery aimed at identifying unnamed defendants; it did not decide whether Epic’s allegations were true or establish that Epic won the case.
Who is Sincey Cheats, and what is Vanta?
Epic’s complaint, filed June 10, 2025, names Ediz Atas, also known by the aliases Sincey Cheats and Vanta Cheats, along with five unidentified defendants referred to as Does 1–5. The case was reassigned from the Eastern Division to the Western Division on June 11, 2025, and is listed as case 5:25-CV-318-M-BM. The docket listing records those case details.
Epic alleged that Atas primarily developed and sold Vanta, software intended to give Fortnite users a competitive advantage over players who were not cheating. Epic further alleged that two unidentified defendants resold the software. These are claims in Epic’s lawsuit, not findings that Atas or anyone else is liable.
Why is Epic suing?
Epic alleged that Vanta included copies of Fortnite software code and technology designed to evade Epic’s anti-cheat protections. The August 2025 order summarized those allegations while addressing a discovery request; it did not rule on whether Vanta copied code, circumvented protections, or violated the law. The case docket and order provide the procedural record.

Epic’s separate explanation of its anti-cheat approach says it uses Easy Anti-Cheat’s kernel-level protection, data and machine-learning-based monitoring, and player reports. That is Epic’s description of its own measures, not an independent assessment of how effective they are. Epic’s February 10, 2026 anti-cheat update also states: “Cheating ruins games, creates unfair matches, and undermines the experience of Fortnite, for everyone in the lobby.”
What did the judge order?
Epic asked for expedited discovery from Google, Microsoft, Discord, PayPal, X, Stripe, Namecheap, and Sellpass, seeking information to identify the two alleged resellers known as Doe 1 and Doe 2. On August 18, 2025, Magistrate Judge Brian S. Meyers granted the motion in part and denied it in part. The order’s disposition is: “ORDER granting in part and denying in part #10 Motion for Discovery.” The docket record identifies the order and its date.

Did Epic win the lawsuit against Sincey Cheats?
The available docket listing records a motion to withdraw as attorney filed September 23, 2025, but does not establish the case’s full status as of October 8, 2026. That entry alone cannot show whether the case later settled, was dismissed, proceeded to judgment, or remains active. A definitive answer requires checking the current court docket or PACER; no later outcome is established here.

How does the 2026 Fortnite anti-cheat update relate?
Epic’s February 10, 2026 guidance is a separate anti-cheat measure, not an update to the lawsuit’s outcome. Epic said Secure Boot, TPM, and IOMMU would be required for PC players in all Fortnite tournaments beginning February 19, 2026. Epic describes IOMMU as helping control how devices access system memory and protect game memory from cheat hardware.
Epic estimated that about 95% of Fortnite PC players use Windows 11-compatible PCs, and said those players likely already meet the tournament requirements or can enable them without new hardware. This is Epic’s estimate and qualification, not a measurement of all PC gamers or a guarantee that every compatible computer is already configured correctly. See Epic’s official requirements and explanation.
