Its story still turns on Mickey using paint and thinner to shape Wasteland. Here’s what the publisher confirms has changed—and which platforms are available as of October 8, 2026.
What is Epic Mickey: Rebrushed?
Developed by Purple Lamp in collaboration with Disney Games and published by THQ Nordic, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed remakes the 2010 game. Mickey travels to Wasteland, a place for forgotten Disney characters, where paint and thinner are central tools for shaping the world and the course of the adventure. THQ Nordic’s release announcement and the official game site describe that premise.

What’s new compared with the Wii original?
Three added movement actions
THQ Nordic says the remake adds dash, ground pound, and sprint. The publisher describes these as giving players more ways to navigate Wasteland and fight enemies. These are publisher-confirmed additions, not an independent assessment of how they affect play.
What the available comparison does—and doesn’t—establish
The publisher’s announcement identifies those new actions, but it does not provide a systematic comparison of every level, quest, control change, or performance difference from the Wii version. The confirmed additions are a useful starting point, not a complete change log or a verdict on whether the remake is better.

Which version should you choose?
Start with the hardware you own and the way you want to play. Switch’s US store listing confirms TV, tabletop, and handheld modes; the Switch 2 announcement calls out higher resolution, improved frame rate, and mouse-style Joy-Con 2 controls. The mobile announcement emphasizes touchscreen optimization. Those are platform-specific descriptions, not a measured performance comparison across systems, so they do not establish an objective best version.
