The best choice depends on the content, the hero’s role, and whether you are building for PvE or PvP. For an all-mode starting point, Pocket Gamer’s tier list—updated September 16, 2026 for version 1.0.974—breaks rankings out by instance. Use its World PvE, Arena, Boss Hunt, or Abyss section for the content you actually play, then treat Champion+ RTA statistics as a separate view of high-rank competitive play.
How to use this Epic Seven tier list
Start with the instance, not the hero’s overall reputation. A character can be valuable in one mode and merely adequate in another. Pocket Gamer’s September 16, 2026 list is the broadest mode-specific snapshot cited here; it includes World/story PvE, Arena, Boss Hunt, and Abyss rankings. Its version reference is 1.0.974, and it identifies Renoa as the latest addition at the time of publication. See Pocket Gamer’s instance-by-instance tier list.
Tier labels are editorial judgments, not guarantees that a hero will perform equally well for every account. Epic7DB says its PvP rankings draw on opinions from top-ranked players and the author’s experience. Its scale runs from SS, the top heroes in a role, through S, A, B, C, and D; lower placements describe increasingly limited or outclassed options, not necessarily unusable heroes. Pick by the job your team needs
- World and story PvE: Pocket Gamer recommends balancing a tank, a healer, and area-of-effect damage for clearing stages.
- Arena: Control effects and debuffs are important considerations in its advice.
- Boss Hunt and Abyss: The right hero depends on the encounter, so check the instance-specific list rather than transferring a general PvP placement.
World and story PvE
Pocket Gamer’s SS World PvE group in its September 16, 2026 snapshot includes the following heroes. This is one publisher’s ranking for that instance, not a universal ranking for all game modes.

For story progression, interpret this group alongside the team-building advice above: the list does not mean that every SS hero fills the same job or that a team should consist only of SS characters. Consult the World PvE section for the role and placement relevant to your stage.
Arena
Arena is a separate PvP instance from real-time arena. Pocket Gamer’s guidance emphasizes control effects and debuffs for Arena, so a World PvE placement should not be treated as an Arena recommendation. Choose from its Arena section according to your intended team and the opponents or defenses you are facing; the available evidence does not establish a single named Arena ranking that can be safely substituted for that section.
Boss Hunt and Abyss
Boss Hunt and Abyss are encounter-dependent. A placement from story PvE or PvP does not establish that a hero is a top pick for a particular Hunt or Abyss stage. Use the separate Boss Hunt and Abyss sections in Pocket Gamer’s list, and match the recommendation to the encounter rather than assuming one roster will rank identically across both.
What Champion+ RTA statistics show
For a quantitative competitive snapshot, Epic7RTAStats aggregates official real-time arena matches. Its Fall 2026 Champion+ table was last updated October 7, 2026. The figures below are for that rank bracket and sample; pick/ban rate measures how often a hero is selected or banned, while win rate is a distinct outcome measure. Neither metric is a score for PvE, Arena, or lower RTA ranks.

Rankings answer different questions when they cover different modes, dates, and methods. Pocket Gamer’s broad instance list is dated September 16, 2026 and refers to version 1.0.974. Epic7DB’s separate PvP page displays a March 28, 2026 update date, so it should not be merged with the later World PvE list or described as a newer consensus.

For example, Epic7DB’s March PvP SS group includes Boss Arunka, Empyrean Ilynav, Lady of the Scales, New Moon Luna, Rinak, Ruele of Light, and School Nurse Yulha. That group is useful only with its stated PvP scope and date attached; it does not replace the newer instance-specific PvE placements.
New additions also make older lists less reliable over time. Epic7RTAStats’ change log records Renoa and Haru added September 17, Uncharted Pioneer Politis added September 3, and Lisette added August 27, 2026. These dates are change-log entries, not evidence that every character performs well in every mode. Review the RTA site’s current data and change log.
