Epic Games Store’s two mystery free games for Jan. 1, 2026, were Wildgate and Total War: THREE KINGDOMS. The offer ran through Jan. 8, 2026, and has expired.
Which games did Epic give away on Jan. 1, 2026?
The confirmed lineup was Wildgate and Total War: THREE KINGDOMS. A contemporaneous Neowin report confirmed the reveal, and the Epicfree.games 2026 giveaway archive records both titles and the Jan. 1–8 offer window.
Before the reveal, a Jan. 1 Gizmochina report described two cryptic clues and listed community guesses. Those guesses included Hunt: Showdown and Phasmophobia for the first game, and Total War: THREE KINGDOMS, Crusader Kings III, and Dragon Age: Inquisition for the second. They were speculation, not Epic’s confirmed lineup.
Can you still claim either game?
No. The Jan. 1–8 promotion is over, so neither title is claimable through that giveaway now. Epic’s live Free Games page is the place to check for current offers; its present listings should not be inferred from this historical promotion.

How Epic’s weekly free-game claims work
Epic Player Support says a new free game is available every Thursday at 8 a.m. PT and can be claimed for seven days before the offer rotates. Claiming requires an Epic account with two-factor authentication. Once claimed, a game remains in the player’s library permanently, even if it is not downloaded right away.
Epic also describes mobile giveaways, whose availability depends on platform and region. The weekly PC offer and mobile offers are separate availability contexts; check Epic’s current listing for what is available where you play.
