EPOMAKER lists 103 keys, a 1.54-inch removable TFT screen, a volume knob, a 5,000mAh battery and support for up to five paired devices. Tom’s Guide’s August 13, 2026 review found the construction, typing feel, software and casual-gaming response generally convincing, but reported intermittent problems with the removable screen. Buy it for the layout and customization first; treat the screen as a bonus rather than the reason to purchase.
What the RT100 Pro is, in practical terms
The RT100 Pro is a retro-inspired, full-size mechanical keyboard for buyers who do not want to give up a number pad. Its 103-key layout retains the navigation cluster, function row and dedicated numpad that compact enthusiast boards remove. The visual theme is paired with modern features: a hot-swap PCB, gasket construction, wired USB-C, 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, per-key lighting controls and a small removable screen.

The screen occupies a detachable module near the top-right of the board. You can use the 1.54-inch TFT display or remove it and install four additional keys instead. That choice matters: the module is a distinctive status and personalization feature, while the four-key replacement makes the top row more conventional. EPOMAKER also fits a dedicated programmable volume knob, so volume adjustments do not require a function-layer shortcut.

The polling, battery, pairing and socket details above are EPOMAKER specifications rather than independently measured results. The technical information is also listed on EPOMAKER’s product information page.
Typing feel and stock switches
Both listed options are linear
The supplied variants are EPOMAKER Creamy Jade and Sea Salt Silent V2. Tom’s Guide identifies both as linear switches and notes that the RT100 Pro does not ship with a tactile option. Linear switches move straight down without a tactile bump, which suits smooth, uninterrupted keystrokes and many gaming users. Sea Salt Silent V2 is described as a silent linear choice, so it is the more obvious option when reducing bottom-out and return noise is important.
If you prefer a noticeable bump for typing feedback, the absence of a stock tactile switch is the main configuration limitation. The hot-swap PCB gives you a path around it: install compatible tactile switches later rather than replacing the entire keyboard. That adds the cost of a switch set and possibly key-pulling tools, and you should confirm the exact 3-pin or 5-pin compatibility before buying replacements.
What the construction promises
EPOMAKER describes a gasket structure and multiple dampening layers. In practical terms, that design aims to isolate the plate and soften the keypress compared with a rigid, undamped case. Tom’s Guide reported favorable impressions of the RT100 Pro’s build and typing performance. Those are the reviewer’s hands-on observations, not a controlled measurement of sound, flex or durability.

Because it is a full-size board, the typing experience also depends on your desk position. The numpad is convenient for spreadsheets and number entry but pushes the mouse farther right. Measure the available width and consider whether you routinely use the numpad before choosing this over a smaller layout.
Screen, knob and retro design
The display is useful but not essential
The removable TFT screen is the RT100 Pro’s most unusual feature. EPOMAKER’s software supports uploading images or GIFs, and the screen can serve as a decorative panel or a small information display. Removing it and installing four keys changes the board from a novelty-focused configuration to one with extra physical controls, which is useful if you would rather have dedicated shortcuts than an animated panel.
Recommended Free Tools
Tom’s Guide’s testing found an important caveat: the screen sometimes showed the wrong time, went blank or failed to turn on after the reviewer removed and reinserted it. That is one reviewer’s reported experience, not a quantified failure rate and not proof that every unit has the same problem. It does mean buyers should avoid treating the display as mission-critical. If an always-correct clock or dependable status readout is your primary reason to buy, the reported behavior is a meaningful risk.
The knob is the safer convenience feature
The dedicated programmable knob is less complicated than the screen and addresses a common daily task directly. It can be assigned through the keyboard software, with volume control as the obvious use. A physical dial is especially convenient when the keyboard is used for games, music or video and you do not want to reach for an operating-system mixer.
Connectivity and multi-device use
Three connection modes
- USB-C wired: Connect the supplied cable for a direct desktop connection and the manufacturer-listed 1,000Hz polling setting.
- 2.4GHz wireless: Use the wireless receiver for cable-free operation with the same manufacturer-listed polling setting as wired mode. Store the receiver carefully when transporting the board.
- Bluetooth: Pair compatible devices when convenience and broad device support matter more than the higher reported polling setting. EPOMAKER lists 125Hz in this mode.
EPOMAKER says the keyboard can retain up to five paired devices. That is useful for a work computer, personal computer, tablet and other hosts, but the practical switching process and operating-system behavior should be confirmed with the current manual and software. The available material does not establish a measured range, latency test or battery runtime, so do not assume a specific number of days between charges.

Which mode should you choose?
| Your priority | Recommended mode | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Stationary desktop use and charging at the same time | USB-C | Provides a direct connection and avoids wireless battery management. |
| Cable-free gaming or a clean desk | 2.4GHz | Offers the higher manufacturer-listed polling setting without a cable. |
| Moving among several devices | Bluetooth | Supports the multi-device pairing feature, with a lower listed polling setting. |
Software and customization
Tom’s Guide described the browser-based Epomaker Hub favorably. According to that review, Hub can remap keys, record macros, adjust per-key RGB effects and upload images or GIFs to the display. This gives the RT100 Pro more flexibility than a board limited to hardware shortcuts.
Browser-based tools are convenient because they avoid a traditional installer, but they still depend on browser permissions, cable or wireless connection state and the current version of the service. Before buying for a specialized workflow, verify that the current Hub supports your operating system and that the functions you need—especially macros, screen uploads and profile storage—are available in your region and firmware version. The supplied information does not establish a complete operating-system compatibility matrix.
A sensible first-time setup
- Choose the physical configuration: Leave the TFT module installed, or replace it with the four-key module if you prefer additional keys.
- Connect by USB-C first: Wired setup is the simplest way to power the board and access configuration while you learn the controls.
- Open Epomaker Hub: Use the browser-based tool to check remapping, macro, lighting and display options.
- Set a profile deliberately: Assign the knob and any extra keys to functions you will actually use, then save the profile according to the current Hub workflow.
- Pair wireless devices: Test 2.4GHz and Bluetooth separately, noting which host is assigned to each pairing slot.
- Check the screen after reseating: If you remove the display, confirm that it starts and shows the expected information before relying on it.
Gaming performance: what is established
Tom’s Guide found the RT100 Pro responsive in casual gaming and cited the 1,000Hz wired and 2.4GHz polling specifications. That combination should appeal to players who want a full-size board without giving up a cable-free setup. The review was not a laboratory latency study, however, so it does not establish a measured input-delay advantage or competitive-esports performance.
The linear stock switches are a natural fit for users who prefer smooth key travel during repeated presses. Players who need tactile feedback may want to budget for compatible replacement switches immediately. The keyboard’s hot-swap design makes that change feasible, but it is still an additional purchase and installation task.
Bluetooth is better viewed as a convenience mode for general computing and multi-device use than as the default for latency-sensitive play, because its listed polling setting is lower. Keep the connection mode in mind when troubleshooting a game that feels less immediate than expected.

Who should buy the RT100 Pro?
- Full-size enthusiasts: You want a number pad, function row and navigation cluster in one board.
- Retro-design fans: You value the colorway and distinctive screen module as part of the desk setup.
- Wireless users: You need USB-C, 2.4GHz and Bluetooth rather than a single connection type.
- Switch tinkerers: You want to experiment with compatible 3-pin or 5-pin switches without soldering.
- Casual gamers: You want a responsive-feeling full-size board and prefer linear switches.
- Multi-device households: You can make use of the stated five-device Bluetooth pairing capacity.
Who should choose something else?
- Buyers who require tactile switches out of the box: Neither listed stock option provides a tactile bump.
- Small-desk users: The full-size footprint and right-side numpad consume substantially more horizontal space than compact layouts.
- Screen-reliability purists: Tom’s Guide reported intermittent blanking, incorrect time and startup failures after reseating the removable module.
- Quiet-office shoppers comparing measured acoustics: The available evidence describes a silent linear option but does not provide independent sound-level testing.
- Battery-runtime planners: EPOMAKER lists capacity, not an independently measured runtime.
- Competitive players seeking laboratory data: The available review reports casual-gaming responsiveness but does not provide controlled latency or polling verification.
Price, value and buying checks
The manufacturer page displayed $115.99 when accessed, while Tom’s Guide’s August 13, 2026 review referred to $119. These figures are close but should be treated as snapshots tied to a source, date and configuration. Color, switch choice, regional taxes, shipping and later promotions can change the amount you pay.
At that level, the value proposition is not simply “a mechanical keyboard with RGB.” You are paying for the full-size 103-key layout, three connection methods, a detachable display, a knob, a large stated battery capacity and a hot-swap PCB. The purchase makes less sense if you will never use the numpad, wireless modes or switch customization, or if the display must be perfectly dependable.
Before checkout, verify these details on the live product page:
- The exact color and stock switch listed for the selected variant.
- Whether the display module or four-key replacement is included in that package.
- The current price in your country and whether shipping or taxes are added at checkout.
- The return and warranty terms for a screen that arrives blank or develops intermittent behavior.
- The current software and firmware requirements for Epomaker Hub.
Screen troubleshooting and other pitfalls
If the display is blank
- Reconnect the keyboard by USB-C and confirm that it has power.
- Remove and reinstall the screen module carefully, ensuring it is fully seated.
- Check the display settings and firmware options in Epomaker Hub.
- Test the board with the four-key replacement if available; this isolates a screen-module problem from a keyboard-connection problem.
- If the fault persists, document the behavior and use the seller’s return or warranty process rather than assuming the issue is universal or attempting an unsupported repair.
If wireless behavior is inconsistent
- Test USB-C first to separate keyboard configuration issues from radio issues.
- For 2.4GHz, confirm that the receiver is connected directly and that the keyboard is not too far from it.
- For Bluetooth, remove an old pairing and pair the intended host again if device switching becomes confusing.
- Charge the board before diagnosing connection drops as a software fault.
If the typing feel is wrong
First identify whether the problem is the linear switch characteristic or an individual defective switch. If you want a tactile bump, replacing the switches is the intended upgrade path; confirm both the pin count and physical compatibility before ordering. Do not assume every aftermarket switch will fit solely because the PCB is hot-swappable.

Final verdict
The Epomaker RT100 Pro earns its place on a shortlist when the buyer wants a full-size keyboard with personality and modern flexibility. Its strongest fundamentals are the 103-key layout, hot-swap support, three connection modes, programmable knob and software customization. Tom’s Guide’s favorable build, typing and casual-gaming impressions support that overall value.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
The removable screen is the qualification that keeps this from being an automatic recommendation. Reported blanking, incorrect time and occasional failure to restart after reinsertion make it a feature to enjoy, not a function to depend on. Choose the RT100 Pro if the layout and connectivity would still satisfy you with the screen removed; in that case, the display becomes a welcome extra rather than a potential deal-breaker.
