In Fellowship, equipment is part of a broader hero-progression system: gear develops alongside abilities, talents, Gems, and other itemization layers. You earn higher-level gear by advancing through leagues and taking on harder dungeons, but there is no established universal best-in-slot setup. The right equipment depends on your hero, build, league, and the live game version.
How equipment fits into Fellowship progression
Fellowship is a cooperative dungeon game developed by Chief Rebel. Its Steam listing describes four leagues—Contender, Adept, Champion, and Paragon—with increasingly challenging encounters and rewards. Gear is one part of progression, alongside abilities and talents; higher leagues offer higher-level gear, Legendaries, set items, Gems, and account-wide upgrades. Steam’s Fellowship listing identifies the game as an Early Access multiplayer title and gives its release date as October 16, 2025.
Leagues and dungeons
Core League dungeons have one boss and are described by Steam as taking 10–15 minutes. Capstone dungeons have three bosses, and you must beat the capstone before advancing to the next league. These details explain the progression structure; they do not establish a particular gear-farming route or drop rate. Steam’s game description
What equipment includes
The developers’ October 1, 2026 update discussed Itemization 2.0 as a system involving modifiers, Blessings, Traits, Gems, and Relics. Their stated direction was to give gear slots clearer identities, introduce systems more deliberately, and reduce unnecessary randomness. Those layers mean an item’s value should be considered in relation to your hero and build, rather than by progression level alone. Fellowship’s October 1, 2026 Campfire Checkpoint

What changed—and what was still planned
In the October 1, 2026 Campfire Checkpoint, the developers announced a progression reset planned for October 22, 2026. They described testing rewards that scale with the item level currently equipped, plus additional bad-luck protection intended to direct guaranteed upgrades toward lower-item-level slots. The update said these details were still being developed and tested; treat them as announced plans, not confirmed live mechanics. Developer update on Steam
The team described its intended direction this way: “We want gear slots to have clearer identities so it becomes much easier to understand what you’re looking for and swap pieces around without dismantling your entire build.” — Fellowship development team, Campfire Checkpoint, October 1, 2026. How to think about choosing gear
- Start with your hero and build. Equipment interacts with the rest of your hero’s progression, including abilities, talents, and itemization layers.
- Account for your league. Higher leagues provide higher-level gear and additional rewards, so judge an item in the context of the content you are progressing through.
- Check the whole itemization picture. Modifiers, Blessings, Traits, Gems, and Relics are all part of the developers’ stated direction for Itemization 2.0.
- Verify current rules in-game. The October 2026 plans were not all final in the announcement. Consult current patch notes for live item rules before following a build or farming recommendation.
Available official descriptions do not establish numeric stat weights, drop rates, item-level caps, or a universal best-in-slot ranking. Without current, hero-specific evidence, an exact equipment ranking would be speculation.
