Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
Once everyone is connected, island cooperation uses three commands: /island leave, /island invite <player name>, and /island join. If you would rather not manage the files, several third-party hosts advertise one-click or pre-installed Equivalent Skies servers, but their current prices, availability, performance and support for this older pack must be checked directly.

Equivalent Skies is an expert skyblock modpack built around ProjectE. Its design is not a normal “give yourself unlimited power” ProjectE setup: progression is gated by the pack’s expert recipes and advancement path. The official project page identifies Minecraft 1.12.2 as the target and TheLimePixel as the owner. A CurseForge project-page counter showed approximately 697,580 downloads when retrieved in 2026; that number is a live counter and can change.
For a new server, keep the client and server on the same release line. The project’s Files page lists Equivalent Skies-1.3.3 as the latest release for Minecraft 1.12.2 and lists a separate file named Equivalent Skies – 1.3.3 Server File under Minecraft 1.12 Server Packs. The release was uploaded February 25, 2019. A later file may eventually appear, so check the Files page at the time you install rather than assuming 1.3.3 will remain the newest entry.

| Item | Documented value | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft version | 1.12.2 | Clients using another Minecraft version are not the documented target. |
| Loader context | Forge for 1.12.2 | The client and server need the matching Forge-era environment. |
| Latest listed pack release | Equivalent Skies 1.3.3 | Use this line on both sides unless the official Files page lists a newer matched release. |

| Release date | February 25, 2019 | Shows why modern launcher or Java assumptions should be verified rather than guessed. |
What you need before installing
- A machine on which you are permitted to run a Minecraft server and store the world files.
- The official Equivalent Skies server package for the release you intend to run.
- A matching Equivalent Skies client installation for every player.
- Minecraft 1.12.2 and the corresponding Forge context on each client.
- File-system access to extract the server archive and run its supplied startup script.
- A way for players to reach the host computer, such as the same local network or a hosting provider’s connection details.
The project instructions identify the pack-specific startup file, but they do not publish an official RAM minimum, CPU requirement, player limit, Java-runtime version, firewall rule, port-forwarding procedure or operating-system matrix. Do not treat an arbitrary hardware number or a modern Java recommendation as an Equivalent Skies specification. Start with the supplied files, then validate the runtime and network setup on the machine you actually use.
Download the official server pack
1. Open the project’s Files page
Go to the official Equivalent Skies project on CurseForge and open Files. The project owner states that server files are available beside the version for which you want to make a server. This is preferable to copying a client installation and trying to turn it into a server, because the server archive is the pack’s intended distribution for hosting.
2. Select the matched release
For the documented latest release, select Equivalent Skies 1.3.3 for Minecraft 1.12.2. Confirm that the entry is the server package, labelled Equivalent Skies – 1.3.3 Server File, in the Minecraft 1.12 Server Packs category. Do not substitute a similarly named client file, an older release, or a file from a different Minecraft version.
3. Keep the original archive intact
Save the download in a location where you can identify it later. If you are setting up several worlds, keep one untouched copy of the archive and extract a separate working copy for each server. This makes it easier to rebuild the installation if files are accidentally deleted or modified.

Install and start a self-hosted server
- Create a dedicated server folder. Make a new folder on the host machine for the Equivalent Skies world and server files. Avoid mixing it with unrelated modpacks or an existing world; separate folders reduce the chance of launching the wrong script or overwriting another installation.
- Extract the server package completely. Use your archive utility’s extract function rather than opening individual files inside the archive. Preserve the directory structure supplied by the pack. The startup script may depend on files being in the locations created by extraction.
- Check the extracted contents. Locate the file named
start_server.bat. Its presence is the pack-specific instruction supplied by the project author. If you cannot find it, you may have downloaded the client package, opened a nested folder instead of the extracted root, or selected the wrong release. - Run the supplied script. Double-click
start_server.batfrom the extracted server folder. Running it from that folder helps the script find its libraries, configuration and world directory. Read any console output instead of closing the window immediately; startup errors usually identify a missing file, runtime problem or permission issue. - Complete first-launch prompts. Some Minecraft server distributions create configuration files or display an agreement prompt on their first run. Follow the instructions shown by the supplied package and restart with the same script if it asks you to do so. The Equivalent Skies instructions name the startup script but do not publish a separate pack-specific prompt sequence.
- Wait for world generation to finish. Do not invite players while the console is still creating files or reporting startup failures. A successful launch should leave the server process running and produce a world directory alongside the server files. The exact console wording can vary with the runtime and operating system.
- Record the server folder and launch method. Keep a note that this installation is Equivalent Skies 1.3.3 on Minecraft 1.12.2 and that it is launched with
start_server.bat. This prevents a later helper from starting a different modpack or a mismatched Forge instance. - Stop and back up using the controls available on your setup. Use the server console or hosting panel’s documented shutdown control rather than terminating the process while files are being written. Copy the complete world and configuration directories after a clean stop. The project does not publish a built-in backup policy, so self-hosted backup scheduling is your responsibility.
The supplied file is a Windows batch script. The published instructions do not provide an equivalent Linux or macOS command, nor do they state a supported operating-system list. On another operating system, inspect the package documentation and adapt the launch process only after confirming which runtime and arguments the script expects; do not assume that renaming the file is sufficient.
Install the matching client for every player
- Install Minecraft 1.12.2 in the launcher used by the player.
- Install or select the Forge context required for the 1.12.2 pack.
- Install the same Equivalent Skies release used by the server, which is 1.3.3 for the documented setup.
- Launch the pack once in single-player or at the title screen so the launcher creates its normal configuration directories.
- Connect only after the server has finished starting.
Every participant should compare the displayed pack name and version before troubleshooting the network. A client from another release can fail before the player reaches the island, while a Forge or Minecraft mismatch can look like a generic connection or missing-mod error. If one player can connect and another cannot, compare their installed release and loader context first rather than changing server files.

The server must be reachable from the players’ network, but the Equivalent Skies project page does not publish a default port, firewall recipe, router instructions or player-capacity figure. On a local network, use the host address presented by the operating system or server environment. For remote players, use the address supplied by your hosting panel or configure network access according to the host operating system and router documentation. Keep the server process running with start_server.bat while players connect.
If the client reports that the server is unreachable, separate the problem into two questions:

- Can the host reach its own server? Check that the batch window is still running and that startup completed without an error.
- Can the player reach the host? Check the address being entered and the network or provider’s access controls. A correct modpack cannot compensate for a blocked or incorrect route.
Do not infer a recommended port, bandwidth target or maximum number of players from the pack’s download count. No independent performance benchmark or capacity study was published for Equivalent Skies.
Invite someone to your island
Equivalent Skies’ official instructions use the following sequence. The player who is already on an island must leave it before joining another player’s island.
- Leave the current island. The player who wants to join runs
/island leave. - Send the invitation. The island owner runs
/island invite <player name>, replacing the placeholder with the invitee’s in-game name. - Accept and join. The invited player runs
/island join.
Enter each command in the Minecraft chat exactly as shown, including the leading slash. If the invitation does not work, verify that the name is spelled exactly, that the recipient has already left their previous island, and that both players are connected to the same server instance. Do not add a second player’s name to /island join; the documented join command has no argument.
Self-hosting or managed hosting?
Self-hosting gives you direct access to the extracted files and the machine running the world. Managed hosting shifts installation and routine controls to a provider. The available provider descriptions establish installation and panel features, but they do not establish equivalent prices, locations, uptime, performance or continuing support for this older 1.12.2 pack.

| File and configuration control | You control the server folder, configuration and world files on your own machine. | Control depends on the provider’s panel and access policy. StickyPiston advertises management controls, while Crafty Servers advertises console and file access. |
| Maintenance | You handle launches, updates, runtime troubleshooting and network access. | The provider may simplify those tasks, but the exact support scope for Equivalent Skies 1.12.2 must be confirmed before purchase. |
| Backups | You must make and test your own copies after clean shutdowns. | Crafty Servers advertises schedules and backups through its panel. Confirm retention, restore method and whether the feature applies to the plan you select. |

When self-hosting is the better fit
Choose self-hosting when you want complete file access, already have a suitable machine, and are comfortable diagnosing a script or network issue. It is also the clearest way to preserve a local copy of the world and control when the server starts or stops. You remain responsible for keeping the process running and for protecting the files.
When managed hosting is the better fit
A managed service is useful when the group does not want to extract archives, maintain a server machine or configure backups manually. Confirm three details before committing: that the provider still supports the 1.12.2 Forge pack, that you can download or restore the world, and that the advertised panel features are included in your chosen plan. A one-click installer does not remove the need to match every player’s client release.
Troubleshooting common setup failures
The startup file is missing
Return to the official Files page and verify that you downloaded the server file, not the client release. Extract the archive again and inspect the extracted root for start_server.bat. If the script is nested one folder deeper, run it from the folder that contains its supporting files rather than moving only the batch file.
The batch window closes immediately
Run the script from a command window or leave the window visible so you can read the error text. Check that extraction completed, that the host can execute the required runtime, and that the folder is writable. The project does not state a Java version or memory minimum, so use the runtime information shown by the package or your hosting environment instead of applying an unverified number.

A client is rejected during connection
Compare Minecraft 1.12.2, Forge context and the Equivalent Skies release on both sides. The server and every client should use the same 1.3.3 pack line for this documented setup. Remove accidental older copies from the launcher profile or create a clean profile so the game does not load a different mod set.
The server is running but nobody can reach it
Confirm that the host process completed startup, then check the address being shared and the network’s access rules. The pack documentation does not specify firewall or port-forwarding settings, so those must be solved at the operating-system, router or hosting-provider level. If local players can connect but remote players cannot, focus on external network access rather than reinstalling the modpack.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe island commands fail
Use the documented order: the joining player runs /island leave, the owner runs /island invite <player name>, and the invitee runs /island join. Check spelling and make sure the invitation and acceptance occur on the same server. A player who is still assigned to an existing island may need to leave it before accepting another invitation.
You need to update later
Check the official Files page for a newer release before changing anything. Treat a release update as a matched client-and-server change: obtain the corresponding server file, update player installations to the same line, and make a verified backup of the world first. Never replace individual mods at random inside a working pack unless the project’s own instructions require it.
What the published information does and does not establish
| Established | Not established |
|---|---|
| Equivalent Skies targets Minecraft 1.12.2 with a Forge-era context. | An official RAM, CPU, storage, bandwidth or player-count minimum. |
| Equivalent Skies 1.3.3 is the latest release listed in the cited Files page, uploaded February 25, 2019. | A performance benchmark or independent capacity test. |
A separate 1.3.3 server file is available, and the author names start_server.bat as the launch script. |
An official Linux or macOS launch command, Java version or firewall guide. |
Island collaboration uses /island leave, /island invite <player name> and /island join. |
Current hosting prices, locations, uptime guarantees or long-term support from third-party providers. |
Those limits matter because Equivalent Skies is an older 1.12.2 pack. The safest setup is the one that keeps the official client and server files on the same release, launches the supplied server script from a complete extraction, and treats network, runtime and backup decisions as separate infrastructure questions rather than undocumented pack specifications.
