Escape From Playtime, MOB Entertainment’s multiplayer spin-off set in the Poppy Playtime universe, is playable in an open Steam beta through 6 p.m. Pacific on Sunday, October 4, 2026, according to PC Gamer’s October 1 report. Steam lists October 21, 2026 as the planned Early Access release date, although Valve’s store page says the date and access status can change.
What is Escape From Playtime?
Escape From Playtime is a 1–4-player online co-op survival-horror game from MOB Entertainment. You play as one of the Smiling Critters inside the abandoned Playtime Co. toy factory, searching for resources and trying to bring them back safely while hostile creations patrol the facility.
Runs are designed to move through changing areas, including classrooms, warehouses, testing laboratories and connecting corridors. The planned toolkit includes searching for tools and clues, hiding, creating distractions, taking alternate routes and solving environmental puzzles. A mysterious Voice promises the characters a home or sanctuary in exchange for gathered materials, but its motives remain unclear. These are the publisher’s announced premise and design plans, not a guarantee that every element will be present in the same form at launch.
The game supports solo play as well as online co-op. MOB also plans proximity voice chat, so nearby players can communicate while separated from the rest of a team.

Open beta dates and player limits
The open beta is live on Steam as of October 3. PC Gamer reports that the test closes at 6 p.m. Pacific on October 4. That schedule comes from secondary reporting, so check the Steam listing for any change before you try to join.

The eight-player beta arrangement should not be read as confirmation that the Early Access or full game will support eight-player sessions. It is a test-specific detail reported by PC Gamer.
When does Escape From Playtime release?
Steam currently lists October 21, 2026 as the planned Early Access date. The store labels the project as coming soon and a work in progress, so the date is not a firm launch guarantee. Use the official Steam page to check the current release and access status.

Early Access is intended to let MOB develop the game with player feedback. MOB says the initial release is planned to include all eight Smiling Critters, one starter zone and a core group of enemies. Additional zones, characters, features and refinements are expected to be shaped by community feedback. Steam says the developer is targeting roughly one year in Early Access, but explicitly ties that timing to when the game’s core is established with the community. Both the content plan and the duration are targets, not promises.
What playing the beta involves
Scavenge, solve and extract
The central loop combines exploration and risk management: search factory spaces for useful materials, investigate clues, work through puzzles and get what you found back safely. Hiding, distractions and alternate routes are intended to matter when creatures are nearby.

Stay aware of nearby teammates
Proximity voice chat is part of the announced multiplayer design. Players can coordinate in the same area, but the format also allows communication to become less reliable as teammates move through the factory.
Expect an unfinished build
The beta and subsequent Early Access release are development builds. Systems, content, balance and technical performance can change as MOB collects feedback. In PC Gamer’s account of a beta session, the author describes hazards including Miss Delight; those are the author’s observations, not an independent test result or a complete enemy list.

Platforms and PC requirements
MOB currently plans to launch Escape From Playtime on Steam. Its FAQ says the game is presently playable only on Windows 10 or Windows 11; the studio may explore other platforms later. Steam-supported controllers are listed as compatible. A microphone is not required, even though voice communication can improve co-op play.
