The company also said platforms could receive warnings. Those were announced consequences—not proof of how many bans followed or whether the policy has since changed.
What did Battlestate Games announce?
In a statement dated June 23, 2023, Battlestate said it would take action against people who datamined Escape from Tarkov and people who shared information derived from datamining. TechRadar reported the statement on June 24, 2023, quoting the company and describing the post as appearing on its social channels. TechRadar’s report is the available account of the announcement.
The scope covered two kinds of involvement: obtaining information through datamining and distributing information that came from it. Battlestate’s stated consequences differed by target: involved in-game accounts could be banned, while platforms could receive warnings.
What did Battlestate mean by datamining?
Battlestate described datamining as entering the game’s code or databases to extract information intentionally hidden from users. It said retrieving data without official permission directly breached its license agreement. The announcement therefore treated unauthorized extraction—not merely the fact that information later circulated—as the basis for its stated objection.

The company’s license-agreement page was not available for direct review in the cited coverage. Search results surfaced language about automated scripts collecting information and uses beyond the agreement or customary gameplay, but that excerpt does not establish the full wording or current terms. Battlestate’s license agreement is the relevant document to consult for its current terms.
Why did the company say it was acting?
Battlestate framed the move as protecting players who wanted to experience events, the game, and its development as the company intended. Its statement, as quoted by TechRadar, said: “We do this for the majority of our community who want to enjoy the events, the game and the development of it, as the company intended.” The quotation was attributed to the company, not to a named executive.

Can you get banned for sharing datamined Tarkov information?
Under the June 2023 announcement, yes: Battlestate explicitly included people sharing information originating from datamining, not only those who extracted it themselves. It said involved in-game accounts would be banned. The announcement does not specify how the company would determine involvement or describe an appeal process.

What is known about enforcement after the announcement?
The cited coverage establishes what Battlestate announced, but does not document later datamining-related ban totals, particular enforcement cases, platform responses, appeal outcomes, or whether the policy has changed since June 2023. The warning should therefore be described as an announced policy, not as a verified record of subsequent enforcement.
For players making decisions now, the practical distinction is between the company’s stated rule and evidence of how it has been applied: Battlestate said unauthorized datamining and sharing its results could bring account bans, but the available report does not establish later enforcement details.
