Yes. To complete the Escape from Tarkov PvE storyline, you must wipe your account. The developer-marked Steam response quoting the official support FAQ calls the reset a technical requirement. This applies to the storyline—not every feature added with version 1.0.
Do you need to wipe your PvE account to complete the storyline?
Yes. The official FAQ wording, quoted in a developer-marked answer on the Escape from Tarkov Steam discussion board, says: “Yes. This is a technical requirement. Completing the storyline in PvE mode requires an account wipe.”
That makes the wipe a condition for completing the PvE story questline, rather than an optional way to start it with a clean profile. The cited FAQ answer does not spell out exactly which profile elements are reset, so details about stash contents, level, or other quest progress should not be assumed from this requirement alone.
Does all Escape from Tarkov 1.0 content require a wipe?
No. In May 2025, Battlestate Games told Insider Gaming that other 1.0 content would be accessible without wiping a PvE profile, while the storyline specifically required a reset. The distinction is between access to other 1.0 content and completing the PvE storyline.

Escape from Tarkov 1.0 released on November 15, 2025, according to the Battlestate Games announcement. The wipe requirement should therefore be treated as current storyline access guidance, not a future launch condition.
