1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsEscape To The Ground is solved by collecting the coffee items, uncovering three key clues, and choosing between a quick yellow-door exit and the longer keypad ending. For the full puzzle solution, use the box code 4381, create a sunlight lens to light a match, read 96 from the coffee, and enter 9756 at the final keypad. The original game’s current playability is not confirmed by the surviving walkthrough pages.
What Escape To The Ground is
Escape To The Ground is a Japanese point-and-click room-escape game associated with developer Tesshi-e and Mild Escape. You begin trapped in an underground room and must inspect scenery, collect objects, combine them, and interpret visual clues before reaching ground level. The contemporary description and walkthrough are preserved by EscapeGames24, while a 2008 solution post at Prise2Tete independently confirms the principal codes and puzzle order.

The game does not use an inventory screen that explains every object. Many interactions depend on clicking a small hotspot, inspecting an item a second time, or using an object on an apparently ordinary piece of scenery. If a door or container does nothing, first check that you have examined the relevant clue and are standing in the correct room.
Quick route overview
| Goal | Required sequence | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Fastest exit | Find the yellow key and use it on the yellow door | Alternate escape |
| Full puzzle ending | 4381 box code, dagger, four-tin sunlight lens, lit match, coffee reading 96, ID card, keypad code 9756 | Longer keypad escape |
The yellow-key ending is a shortcut. The keypad route is the more complete solution because it uses the room’s clues and reveals the final code. The available walkthroughs do not document different scores, rewards, or an additional post-game sequence for either exit.

- Escape Room game for the home
- 1 to 4 players; 1 to 2 hour playing time
- Includes materials for single use
- This game can be played only once, because you markup, fold, and tear the game materials
Complete walkthrough
1. Take the coffee tin and reveal the red key
- From the starting view, move right.
- Pick up the coffee tin on the table.
- Inspect or open the tin and place some of its coffee into the coffee maker.
- Inspect the tin again after dealing with the coffee. The red key is hidden inside.
The second inspection is essential. Merely collecting the tin does not expose the key, so repeat the inspection if the key does not appear.
2. Enter the room with the window
- Move right twice.
- Collect the coffee cup.
- Collect all four coffee tins in this area.
- Use the red key on the purple-and-red door.
Keep all four tins; they are not duplicates to discard. They form part of the light-concentrating device later.
3. Find the blue key and solve the box
- In the next room, click the space beside the box. The blue key is behind it.
- Go to the room containing the window and sink.
- Fill the coffee cup with water at the sink.
- Inspect the picture in the room. It supplies the four-digit code 4381.
- Enter 4381 into the box.
- Take the dagger revealed inside.
The picture is the source of 4381; do not try to derive this number from the coffee or tree clues used at the end.

- MIRROR: You can find the mirror card in the Prison Break game. It is a reflective piece of cardboard and can be replaced with any household mirror.
4. Use the dagger and position the tins
- Use the dagger on the apple. Cutting it reveals an additional hint.
- Place the four coffee tins on the table in front of the window.
The apple message connects coffee with a tree. It is not the final keypad number by itself; it becomes meaningful after the coffee-making step.
5. Open the blue room and collect the remaining tools
- Use the blue key on the single blue door.
- Inside, pick up the tape and the plastic sheet.
- Use the dagger in the upper-left area of the scene to obtain the yellow key.
- Use the dagger on the blue wall box to obtain the ID card.
There are two important results here. The yellow key enables the alternate escape, while the ID card is needed for the longer keypad route. Take both before leaving.
6. Build the sunlight lens and light the match
- Cover the four tins on the window table with the plastic sheet.
- Secure the sheet with the tape.
- Pour water onto the plastic. The covered tins, sheet, and water create a lens that concentrates sunlight.
- Pick up the match from the lower-left corner of the window.
- Place the match in the concentrated beam to light it.
This is a sequence puzzle rather than a single-item action. If the beam does not ignite the match, verify that every tin is on the table, the sheet is attached with tape, and water has been added.

7. Make coffee and read 96
- Fill the coffee cup with water again if it is empty.
- Put water into the coffee maker.
- Use the lit match to start the coffee maker.
- Transfer coffee from the maker into the cup.
- Inspect the cup. The number 96 appears.
The cup’s 96 is a clue component, not the keypad code. Keep it with the apple hint and the five-tree image.

8. Derive 9756 and open the exit
- Use the apple hint’s coffee-and-tree connection to identify the relevant picture.
- Count the five trees shown in that picture.
- Combine the cup’s 96, the hint’s 7, and the picture’s five trees in the displayed puzzle order. The resulting four-digit keypad code is 9756.
- Use the ID card at the keypad.
- Enter 9756.
The order matters: the solution is 9-7-5-6, not 4381, 96, or a simple rearrangement of the numbers. The contemporary walkthrough at CheatBook and the independent Prise2Tete solution both report 9756 as the keypad ending.
The alternate yellow-key escape
The yellow key obtained with the dagger opens a yellow door and provides another way out. You can take this route as soon as the yellow key is available; it avoids the sunlight lens, coffee reading, ID-card use, and keypad code. The walkthroughs identify it as a shorter alternate ending rather than a separate chapter.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What each clue means
The 4381 box code
Inspecting the picture in the window-and-sink room gives 4381 directly. This code opens the box that contains the dagger. It is an early progression lock and is unrelated to the final keypad.
The apple message
The dagger cuts the apple and exposes the hint that links coffee and a tree. That connection tells you how to interpret the later coffee result and tree image rather than treating 96 as a complete code.

The four-tin lens
The tins provide the reflective or supporting surface, the plastic sheet holds the water, and the water bends and concentrates sunlight. Tape keeps the sheet in place. The lit match is then used to start the coffee maker.
The 96 and five trees
After brewing and inspecting the cup, 96 appears. The tree image contains five trees, and the apple hint supplies the remaining seven clue. Together, in the puzzle’s intended order, they produce 9756.
Common sticking points
- The red key is missing: Put coffee in the maker, then inspect the original tin again. The key is revealed only after that interaction.
- The box will not open: Enter 4381 from the picture, not a number guessed from the room furnishings.
- The dagger seems unusable: Try the apple, the upper-left area in the blue-door room, and the blue wall box. These three uses produce the hint, yellow key, and ID card.
- The match will not light: Confirm that all four tins are on the window table, the plastic is taped down, and water has been poured over it before placing the match in the sunbeam.
- The coffee maker does nothing: Add water first, then use the lit match. Once coffee is made, transfer it to the cup and inspect the cup rather than the machine.
- The keypad rejects the number: The final code is 9756. The ID card must also be used at the keypad; entering numbers without the card does not complete the route.
- A hotspot appears inactive: Recheck your current room and click beside objects, not only on their visible centers. The blue key, for example, is behind the box rather than on its front face.
Can you still play it on a phone or tablet?
The preserved page uses a “Replay Game” presentation, but that label does not verify that the original game is still hosted, functional, or officially distributed. The available 2008-era pages do not establish current browser compatibility, mobile support, or an authoritative replacement. Treat phone and tablet play as unverified rather than assuming that a modern browser will load the game.
If you try an archived or third-party page, use a device and browser that can handle the page’s original point-and-click controls, allow the game area to load, and avoid entering personal information or installing an unknown plug-in. A failed load may reflect the host or obsolete browser technology, not an incorrect puzzle action. The walkthrough remains useful as a solution reference even when the original game cannot be launched.
Source notes
The complete item order and codes are documented in the CheatBook walkthrough. The game description, alternate yellow-door ending, and keypad explanation are preserved by EscapeGames24. A contemporaneous French forum solution at Prise2Tete, dated May 14, 2008, independently corroborates the 4381 box code, sunlight setup, five trees, 9756 keypad code, and alternate exit.
