Everwind released on March 17, 2026, and is in Early Access. Your opening priority is to turn the tutorial area’s materials and discoveries into a working airship, then use that ship as a mobile home for gathering, crafting, combat and exploration. The eight tips below combine the game’s official description with advice from a community walkthrough; where the walkthrough’s sequence is disputed or version-sensitive, the distinction is called out.
What should you do first in Everwind?
Everwind is a first-person RPG and sandbox survival game built around a repeating loop: collect resources, craft equipment and ship parts, explore floating islands, fight encounters, and return to your flying island-ship to prepare for the next trip. The official Steam listing describes that ship as both a safe haven and a place to craft essential items. Treat the opening area as a supply run and a tutorial rather than a place to rush through.

The exact progression below comes mainly from the player guide “Everwind: How to Get Your First Airship” by Lord Gonzo. It is not an official step-by-step sequence, and Early Access patches can alter interactions, recipes and objectives. In particular, check whether you already have access to a boat before spending materials to make another one.
Eight beginner tips, in the order they help most
1. Search the tutorial tower before leaving
Examine the tutorial tower room by room. Open or break anything that the current build allows you to interact with, and walk around objects rather than assuming a visible prop is only scenery. The community walkthrough says that thorough searching can reveal collectible materials and objects that can be converted into blueprints. That specific blueprint interaction is guide-based and may be version-sensitive, so use the interaction prompts in your build as the final authority.

Do not move on simply because the first objective marker points elsewhere. Early recipes often depend on small components that are easy to overlook in a tutorial space. A slow sweep now can prevent a return trip after you have already committed fuel or damaged equipment.
2. Build a reserve of wood and fiber
Make wood and fiber your first concrete resource targets. The walkthrough recommends collecting a reserve rather than gathering only the exact amount shown by the first recipe. These materials support the basic crafting loop and are also useful when you begin assembling the ship.
As soon as the relevant recipes are available, turn part of that reserve into planks, rope and wooden blocks. Keep some raw material instead of processing everything: recipes and quantities can change while the game is in Early Access, and unprocessed resources give you flexibility when a new requirement appears. A practical opening inventory has three parts:
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstall- Raw wood and fiber: held back for recipes you have not yet seen.
- Processed supplies: planks and rope for immediate construction.
- Building pieces: wooden blocks for a platform, repairs or a temporary layout.
This is preparation, not a claim that these are permanent best-in-slot materials. The official listing identifies gathering and crafting as core systems, while the detailed quantities come from the community guide.
3. Inspect the crashed ship and damaged containers
Search the crash site and test damaged containers for interactions. The walkthrough says the crashed ship and breakable containers can provide useful components or unlock parts. Look for prompts, damage states and objects that change when struck or examined, then collect what the game actually awards.

Verify each interaction in your current version. The supporting source is player advice, and Early Access means a container may be lootable, decorative or temporarily bugged after an update. If a component does not appear, check nearby wreckage and your inventory before assuming the objective is blocked; do not spend replacement materials until you know the item is genuinely unavailable.
4. Scan the crashed airship’s glowing components
When you reach the crashed airship, use the compass to locate and scan its glowing parts. Lord Gonzo’s guide identifies four targets: the cockpit, balloon, engine and generator. According to that guide, scanning them unlocks the corresponding recipes. The official store page confirms that ship-building and crafting are central features, but the exact scan order and trigger behavior are community-reported rather than guaranteed by the developer.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Equip or activate the compass and move around the wreck until a component is highlighted.
- Approach the glowing cockpit and complete the scan interaction.
- Repeat the process for the balloon, engine and generator sections.
- Open the crafting interface and confirm which recipes have appeared before leaving the site.
If a scan does not register, change your angle and distance, check for an interaction prompt, and make sure you are targeting the glowing component rather than nearby debris. A patch may rename a part or alter the required interaction, so the recipe list in your build takes precedence over the guide’s wording.
5. Craft ship parts while the resources are nearby
Once the component recipes are available, prepare the main parts before you travel far from your starting resources. The walkthrough recommends a cockpit, balloon, engine and energy generator, plus enough wood to use as fuel. Crafting near the materials you just gathered reduces backtracking and lets you correct a missing component before committing to a launch.
The same guide attributes two useful rules to its current game version: additional balloons provide more lift, while additional engines provide more speed. Consider those rules a starting design principle, not a permanent balance guarantee. More parts can also increase material needs, weight or energy demands, so begin with the essential set and expand after you understand how your ship handles.

Before you leave the area, check three things:
- The cockpit, balloon, engine and generator are in your inventory or already placed.
- You have wood available for the fuel step described by the guide.
- You can still reach the crafting station, wreckage and storage area without a long detour.
6. Check for an existing boat before crafting one
The community walkthrough recommends reaching the Flying Ship Core by boat, but comments on that guide dispute whether beginners need to craft a boat at all. Some players report that a boat may already be available near the tower. Because that evidence conflicts, treat the boat as a check rather than a mandatory recipe.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

- Search the shoreline and the area around the tutorial tower for a usable boat or boat interaction.
- Read the current quest text and inspect waypoint markers for an instruction that assumes you already possess one.
- Only open the crafting menu for a new boat if the current build gives you no usable alternative.
- Keep the materials you would have spent until you have confirmed the requirement.
This simple inspection can save an early stockpile of wood and fiber. It also protects you from following an older walkthrough literally when the starting setup has changed.
7. Assemble the airship around the Flying Ship Core
When you reach the Flying Ship Core, use the guide’s suggested order as a readable first layout: cockpit, generator, engine, balloon, then the connecting pipes. Add fuel after the parts are connected. The order is a practical starting arrangement, not a guaranteed optimal blueprint; the game’s building rules and part statistics may change during Early Access.
Place the cockpit where you can reach it easily, then leave room for the generator and engine rather than filling every available tile with decorative blocks. Position the balloon so it is connected to the structure, and run the required pipes between the relevant components. If the ship does not respond, inspect connections one at a time:
- Part missing: confirm that the recipe was unlocked and the item is actually in your inventory.
- No connection: remove and replace the pipe or move the component closer to a valid connection point.
- No movement: verify fuel, generator placement and cockpit access before adding more engines.
- Insufficient lift or speed: test additional balloons or engines only after the basic system works.
Build a functional frame first. Decorating or expanding the ship before its core systems operate makes it harder to identify which connection or resource is missing.

8. Treat the ship as your home and expedition staging point
The official game description presents the flying island-ship as a safe haven and crafting base. Use it as your reset point: return to deposit loot, craft essentials, refuel, repair or reorganize before another island expedition. This turns exploration into manageable trips instead of one long inventory gamble.
Plan each outing around a clear purpose. A resource run should leave room for raw materials; a combat trip should reserve space for drops and bring the equipment you can replace; an island survey should include enough supplies to return safely. Floating islands offer resources, loot and combat encounters, so the ship’s location determines how much time you spend traveling versus collecting.
Keep a small departure routine:
- Empty low-value clutter and store important components.
- Carry the fuel and basic building materials needed for an emergency repair.
- Check that your destination and return route are visible before launching.
- Return when your inventory is full or your essential supplies are low.
How do I get my first airship in Everwind?
The beginner route is to loot the tutorial tower, gather wood and fiber, inspect the crash site, scan the glowing cockpit, balloon, engine and generator, and then assemble those parts around the Flying Ship Core. The community walkthrough also discusses a boat route to the core, but because players dispute whether a boat is already provided, inspect the starting area and current objective markers first. Do not treat boat crafting as a universal prerequisite.
After assembly, connect the pipes and add fuel. If your build uses different names, quantities or connection rules, follow the in-game recipe and prompt text. The reason to prepare the parts before traveling is logistical: you can solve missing-resource problems while the tutorial area and crash site are still close.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow do you scan the crashed ship?
Activate the compass, approach the wreck and look for glowing interactive sections. The player guide names the cockpit, balloon, engine and generator as the four scans that unlock ship recipes. Complete the interaction on each part, then verify the recipes in the crafting interface.

A scan that fails is usually a positioning or version issue rather than proof that the wreck is unusable. Move around the object, wait for the prompt, and target the glowing section itself. If the current build presents a different prompt or sequence, use that behavior; the guide is not an official contract for every Early Access version.
Can you play Everwind solo or in co-op?
Yes. The official Steam listing states that Everwind supports both single-player and online co-op. The available sources establish the modes, but they do not establish separate optimal opening strategies, resource rates or ship requirements for solo and co-op.
| Mode | What is established | Practical opening approach |
|---|---|---|
| Single-player | Supported by the official listing. | Use the ship as your storage and preparation hub; carry only what one character can replace or protect. |
| Online co-op | Supported by the official listing. | Agree on who gathers, crafts or scouts, but verify shared-inventory and progression behavior in your build. |
Do not assume that a co-op group automatically receives extra resources or that solo play changes the tutorial sequence. Those details are not established by the cited sources.

What should PC players know about requirements?
The official Steam page lists a minimum of 12 GB of RAM and a GTX 1060 with at least 6 GB of VRAM. Its recommended specification is 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 2060 Super with at least 8 GB of VRAM. Steam warns that requirements can change during Early Access, so check the live listing before buying or troubleshooting performance.
| Specification tier | Memory | Graphics requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 12 GB RAM | GTX 1060, at least 6 GB VRAM |
| Recommended | 16 GB RAM | RTX 2060 Super, at least 8 GB VRAM |
These are the store’s stated specifications, not a performance guarantee for every resolution or graphics preset. Drivers, background applications, storage speed and future patches can affect results.
What does Early Access change for these tips?
Everwind’s systems are subject to change. The developer says on the Steam Early Access listing that it expects at least a year in Early Access and plans gradual content updates, including more crafting items, new enemies, new islands and a farming system. The developer also says community feedback can influence improvements and additional features; that is a development goal, not a promise of a particular feature on a particular date.
As a result, treat recipes, resource amounts, scan triggers, boat availability, ship balance and PC requirements as build-dependent. When a tip conflicts with an in-game prompt, quest marker or current recipe, follow the current game and re-check the official listing or the guide’s latest comments. The player guide index at Steam Community Guides shows that players publish gameplay and crafting guides, but the index itself does not validate any individual instruction.
