There are 28 named adventurers in the community-maintained roster snapshot, grouped into five classes. This ranking is best read as a guide to choosing a role for a typical party—not as a definitive strongest-to-weakest tier list. It weighs how clearly a class’s broad role supports a balanced party, how easy that role is to understand, and how much it appears to depend on specialized cards, equipment, or synergies. The available evidence describes class tendencies, not individual character performance, so characters within each tier are tied rather than assigned invented placements.
How to read this ranking
Across the Obelisk is a cooperative roguelite deckbuilder that can be played solo or with up to three friends, according to its publisher. A character’s class offers a starting direction, not a locked job: traits, shared class cards, and equipment can shift how a character contributes. Party composition, build choices, and difficulty also change what counts as a useful pick.
The tiers below rank broad class roles for a reader choosing a straightforward contribution to a balanced party. They do not claim that every member of a higher tier outperforms every member of a lower one. Because no character-by-character performance comparison is established here, heroes in each tier share the same rank, and names within a tier are listed alphabetically.
The character rankings
Rank 1 — Healers: the clearest foundation for party support
The class is described as focusing on healing, shield, and mystical damage. Healing and shielding give this group a clear party-support purpose, making it the most straightforward starting point for a balanced roster. That is a judgment about the class role, not evidence that every healer is equally durable, easy to build, or powerful.

Rank 2 — Warriors: a direct route to defense and physical damage
Warriors are broadly associated with defense, physical damage, and block. Those are legible jobs for a new party builder: protect the group and bring physical offense. A Warrior’s exact contribution can still change with the cards and equipment chosen.
- Bree
- Grukli
- Heiner
- Magnus
- Yogger
Rank 3 — Scouts: flexible utility for parties that need options
Scouts are described as utility-oriented generalists. That flexibility can help a party cover several needs, but a broad role may be less immediately defined than direct defense or healing. Their value depends on the cards and party plan that give the utility a purpose.

- Andrin
- Gustav
- Nenukil
- Sylvie
- Thuls
Rank 4 — Multiclass: two card pools, with a less predictable role
Multiclass characters combine two class card pools, which suggests room for varied builds. That breadth can be an advantage, but the class label alone does not show which combinations are easiest to use or strongest in a particular party. They rank below the clearer broad roles here because their value is harder to infer without character-specific comparisons.
- Bernard
- Laia
- Navalea
- Nevermoor
- Nyrada
- Sigrun
- Velarion
Rank 5 — Mages: a focused elemental and energy role
Mages are broadly focused on elemental damage and energy. That gives them a distinct offensive identity, but the class description alone establishes less about how they support a balanced party than the defensive and healing roles above. This is a ranking of broad role clarity and assumed general-party contribution, not a claim that Mages are weak.

Which characters should you use or unlock?
Choose by the job your party needs, then treat the tier as a starting point rather than a verdict on an individual hero:
- Need support? Start with the Healer class’s healing and shield focus.
- Want a clear defensive and physical-damage role? Consider a Warrior.
- Want a generalist role? A Scout is described as utility-oriented.
- Want to experiment with combined class pools? Try a Multiclass character, while expecting build choices to matter.
- Want elemental offense and energy focus? Look to the Mage class.
This roster snapshot does not establish character-specific unlock steps or every access requirement. A Steam All Heroes Pack bundle listing includes hero packs for Tulah, Sigrun, Bernard, and Nenukil, but that listing alone does not establish the full paid-character list or whether entitlements match across platforms. Check the current in-game roster and the store for your platform before relying on an unlock or DLC assumption.

What this ranking can—and cannot—tell you
The community-maintained indexed roster lists 28 adventurers across Warriors, Scouts, Mages, Healers, and Multiclass. Treat that as a roster snapshot, not a guaranteed current count; check the game itself for the definitive available roster. The class descriptions support broad role guidance, but they do not establish a consensus strongest-to-weakest order or a reliable character-by-character tier list. Individual traits, cards, equipment, party combinations, and difficulty can all alter how a hero performs.
The practical takeaway is to build around complementary jobs rather than treating the tier order as a strict draft rule. A class that fills a party gap may be the more useful pick, even if it appears lower in this broad, editorial ranking.
