Dishonored 2 is the best Arkane game in this ranking: it brings the studio’s flexible level design, player choice, and immersive first-person systems together more completely than any other entry. That is an editorial judgment, not a universal verdict. The list below ranks Arkane-led games and major separately sold experiences by design ambition and execution, room to improvise, world and storytelling, and what each adds to the studio’s catalog.
“Every” here means released Arkane-led games and major standalone experiences, plus two clearly labeled Wolfenstein collaborations with MachineGames. It does not count Dishonored DLC packs separately or claim to capture every support credit. Marvel’s Blade is excluded because Arkane Lyon lists it as in development, not released. Arkane’s official site and the sources below identify the releases covered, but do not establish a complete credit-by-credit gameography.

Every Arkane game ranked, worst to best
-
Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot
This short VR spin-off, co-developed by Arkane and MachineGames, is the least convincing fit for Arkane’s strengths in this ranking. Its premise puts the player in control of Nazi war machines, but the experience offers less room for layered problem-solving than the studio’s strongest work. GamesRadar+ places it last in its own ten-game list, citing its short length and clunky controls: GamesRadar+’s ranking.

Redfall
Redfall belongs in a ranking of Arkane’s released games, but it ranks near the bottom. Its open-world vampire-shooter structure struggled to make its single-player and cooperative identities feel coherent, and its launch was marked by technical problems. The later state is not identical to launch: Update 4 added offline mode and single-player pausing, along with DLSS 3 and changes to neighborhood and nest systems. Those updates improve the practical options available, but do not erase the game’s uneven design. Metacritic’s current listing, viewed in 2026, gives the PC version a critic score of 53 and the Xbox Series X version 56; these are platform-specific aggregator scores, not a single definitive rating. Metacritic: Redfall.

Redfall: Standard Edition - Xbox Series X- The town of Redfall is under siege by a legion of vampires who have cut the island off from the outside world. Trapped with a handful of survivors, slay alone or squad up in open-world FPS action.
- Redfall is an open-world, single player and co-op FPS from Arkane Austin, the award-winning team behind Prey and Dishonored.
- Continuing Arkane’s legacy of carefully crafted worlds and immersive sims, Redfall brings the studio’s signature gameplay to this story-driven action shooter.
- Redfall’s open world is handcrafted by the master level designers behind Prey’s Talos I space station and Dishonored’s Dunwall.
-
Wolfenstein: Youngblood
Arkane Lyon and MachineGames collaborated on this co-op-focused Wolfenstein entry. Its RPG progression and cooperative play are an interesting departure, but its missions and story feel less cohesive than the best Arkane games. GamesRadar+ finds it more enjoyable in co-op than solo, while judging the experience unfocused. It is worth recognizing as a collaboration rather than describing it as an Arkane-only production. GamesRadar+’s ranking.
-
Prey: Typhon Hunter
This multiplayer-focused Prey experience is a separate follow-up, not another name for the 2017 campaign. Its format makes it a smaller and less substantial expression of Arkane’s systemic single-player design than the main game or Mooncrash. Bethesda describes Typhon Hunter as the multiplayer-focused counterpart to the roguelike Mooncrash in its account of Arkane’s history. Bethesda: The Arkane DNA.
-
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
Dark Messiah is rough around the edges, yet its first-person melee combat and reactive spaces still feel distinctive. Kicking enemies into hazards and combining combat with magic give encounters a physical, improvisational quality. Its RPG systems and storytelling are less consistently successful, but its willingness to make the environment part of the fight points toward ideas Arkane would keep refining. GamesRadar+’s ranking.
Rank #2
REDFALL (XBOX SERIES X)- 30869
-
Arx Fatalis
Arkane’s 2002 debut is an ambitious first-person action RPG built around an underground world and open-ended exploration. Its setting gives the game an identity unlike the studio’s later cities and science-fiction spaces, while its willingness to let players work through problems in different ways makes it an important early expression of Arkane’s design sensibility. It is a cult classic and a spiritual predecessor to the studio’s later work. GamesRadar+’s ranking.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider
This compact standalone adventure follows Billie Lurk and gives the Dishonored story a distinct perspective and sense of closure. It has less breadth than the mainline games, so it ranks below them, but its narrower scope suits a focused return to the series’ world. GamesRadar+ also identifies it as a standalone adventure. GamesRadar+’s ranking.
-
Prey: Mooncrash
Mooncrash transforms Prey’s setting and systems into a replayable survival challenge. Enemies, hazards, goals, and loot change from run to run, encouraging players to adapt rather than follow one fixed route; Xbox describes those variations in its official bundle listing. Xbox: The Arkane Collection. Metacritic’s current platform listings, viewed in 2026, show critic scores of 83 for PS4, 82 for Xbox One, and 75 for PC. These figures provide context, not a direct measure of identical experiences across platforms. Metacritic: Prey – Mooncrash.
Rank #3
ZeniMax / Bethesda Redfall [Xbox Series X]- Open world co-op multiplayer: Redfall can be played in single and multiplayer
- Arcane style gameplay - Passionate about battle, or do you prefer to go secretly? The choice is yours
- The ingenious level designers are responsible for Arcane's new open world, who already delighted with the Talos I from Prey and Dunwall from Dishonored
- As if vampires were not bad enough, cultists also stand in their way - people who worship the new bloodthirsty rulers of the island
- Choose from a team of heroes - each with unique abilities
-
Dishonored
The original Dishonored established Arkane’s first-person stealth-action formula: powers and gadgets combine with spaces built for experimentation, and player choices affect the world and ending. Its chaos system allows a quieter approach, including the possibility of completing the game without killing. The result is a foundation that remains distinctive even beside the more elaborate sequels. GamesRadar+’s ranking.
-
Prey (2017)
Arkane’s Prey is a layered science-fiction action game set aboard Talos I, where the Typhon threat turns exploration into a constant reassessment of what is safe and useful. Its tools support both combat and traversal: the GLOO gun, for example, can hinder enemies and help create routes through the environment. This is the 2017 Arkane game, not Prey (2006), which was developed by Human Head Studios. GamesRadar+’s ranking.

Deathloop
Deathloop makes repetition its central structure. The player pieces together clues across a repeating day to pursue targets, while rival assassin Julianna adds pressure and unpredictability. Its stylish shooter action and puzzle-like schedule distinguish it from Dishonored and Prey without abandoning Arkane’s interest in player experimentation. Metacritic’s current listings, viewed in 2026, show critic scores of 89 on Xbox Series X, 88 on PS5, and 87 on PC; these are platform-specific figures. Metacritic: Deathloop.
Rank #4

Dishonored 2
Dishonored 2 is the most complete expression of Arkane’s flexible level design and player choice in this ranking. Players choose between Corvo and Emily, whose different abilities support different approaches; the Clockwork Mansion is a standout example of a level whose shifting structure invites close observation and improvisation. Its mix of world-building, powers, stealth, combat, and consequential choices makes it the strongest overall entry here. GamesRadar+ also places it first in its 2025 list. Metacritic’s current listings, viewed in 2026, show critic scores of 88 for PS4 and Xbox One and 86 for PC. GamesRadar+’s ranking; Metacritic: Dishonored 2.
What makes a game feel like Arkane?
Arkane’s catalog spans action RPGs, stealth adventures, science-fiction exploration, a time-loop shooter, and a cooperative vampire game. The connecting thread is less a fixed genre than a focus on immersive worlds and player improvisation. Arkane Lyon art director Sébastien Mitton described that continuity this way: “But we’re always going to be focused on the heart of what makes our games Arkane games, and that’s the first-person immersion.” Bethesda: The Arkane DNA.
Which Arkane game should you play first?
- For the clearest introduction to Arkane’s signature: start with Dishonored, which establishes the stealth, powers, and systemic choices that define much of the studio’s reputation.
- For the most fully realized version of that approach: play Dishonored 2, which expands the formula with two protagonists and more elaborate levels.
- For science-fiction exploration: choose Prey (2017), especially if you enjoy using tools and environmental clues to solve problems.
- For a different structure: try Deathloop for its repeating-day investigation, or Mooncrash for a run-based survival challenge.
- For Arkane’s earlier history: Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic show earlier, rougher forms of the studio’s interest in first-person worlds and reactive play.
Are Youngblood and Cyberpilot Arkane games?
They are collaborations involving Arkane Lyon and MachineGames, not Arkane-only projects. This ranking includes them because they are separately released experiences with Arkane involvement, while distinguishing them from Arkane-led entries. The list is complete only under the scope stated above: it does not attempt to enumerate every support contribution or treat Dishonored DLC packs as separate games.
Is Arkane’s Prey the same game as the 2006 Prey?
No. Prey (2017) was developed by Arkane Studios, while Prey (2006) was developed by Human Head Studios. The shared title can cause confusion, so the year and developer matter when looking up reviews or buying the game. GamesRadar+’s ranking.
Where do Metacritic scores fit?
Scores can help orient readers, but they do not determine this order. The figures cited above are current platform-specific Metacritic critic scores viewed in 2026; they may change, and platform scores should not be treated as a common test or a universal measure of quality. The ranking is an editorial comparison of design, execution, flexibility, world, and distinction within Arkane’s catalog. Metacritic.
