The answer changes after the game’s final story update, released on January 14, 2025. Batman, Superman, Flash, and Green Lantern appear to die during the campaign, but Episode 8 reveals that they were Brainiac-created clones. Their original counterparts survive. The Batman clone
Harley Quinn shoots Brainiac’s Batman clone point-blank in the head after the Squad weakens and captures him.
The main campaign presents this as the death of the Arkhamverse’s Bruce Wayne. Episode 8 later reveals that the Batman killed was a clone and that the original Bruce Wayne is alive. That survival is a later story reveal, not an unambiguous fact established in the base campaign.

The Superman clone
The Superman killed by the Squad is a Brainiac-created clone of Clark Kent. The Squad uses weapons made with gold kryptonite before shooting him until he is defeated.

The original Superman survives and helps defeat Brainiac in the concluding story content. Therefore, the campaign’s apparent killing of Superman is not the permanent death of the original character.

What happens to Brainiac?
Brainiac’s fate is more complicated than a single death. The game’s multiverse story involves multiple Brainiac iterations across different Earths. The Squad defeats or eliminates Brainiac variants throughout the seasonal storyline rather than killing one clearly identified individual in every encounter.
At the end of the main campaign, the Squad captures the Brainiac directing the invasion of the primary setting. Waller uses Lex Luthor’s Dataspike to extract his knowledge. In the finale, the Squad turns a Brainiac over to Waller after the last battle.
For that reason, it is more accurate to say that Brainiac’s variants are defeated or eliminated across the story. The ending does not present a simple “every version of Brainiac is dead” conclusion.

Characters whose deaths are not confirmed
Robin / Tim Drake
The game shows signs that Tim Drake confronted Brainiac-controlled Batman, including a bloodstained Robin mask. However, no body is shown and the game never confirms his death. DC’s official Arkhamverse recap summarizes the situation as “no body, no death.”
Nightwing, Oracle, and Red Hood
Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, and Jason Todd are absent from the game, but their absence is not evidence that they died. The story does not establish that any of them was killed.
Poison Ivy
The adult Poison Ivy died before the events of this game in Batman: Arkham Knight. In Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a surviving plant spore grows into a child version called Ivy. Her appearance is a continuation of the earlier death and rebirth storyline, not a new death in this game.
The Suicide Squad
Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, King Shark, Joker, Mrs. Freeze, Lawless, and Deathstroke survive the completed story. The Squad leaves the Arkhamverse and continues traveling through the multiverse.
The Joker introduced in Season 1 is an alternate-universe Elseworlds version. He is alive when recruited and should not be confused with the original Arkhamverse Joker, who died in Batman: Arkham City.

Deaths outside the game
Victor Zsasz
Victor Zsasz is killed in the tie-in comic Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum, where King Shark bites his head off. This death occurs in the comic, not in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League itself.
Definitive death count
Counting named characters who visibly die or are explicitly killed in the game’s story gives this list:
- Earth-1 Lex Luthor
- The Brainiac-created Flash clone
- The Brainiac-created Green Lantern clone
- Wonder Woman
- The Brainiac-created Batman clone
- The Brainiac-created Superman clone
- Brainiac variants defeated or eliminated across the seasonal storyline
The headline claim that “the Suicide Squad kills the Justice League” describes the main campaign’s apparent events, but it is not the final explanation of who dies. The Squad kills Brainiac’s Justice League clones—not the original Batman, Superman, Flash, or Green Lantern. Wonder Woman is the exception: her death remains permanent.
