Throne and Liberty has four reported fishing bait types: Paste, Worm, Shrimp, and Fish Fillet. A January 2025 guide describes Paste as general-purpose bait, Worm for medium fish, Shrimp for small fish, and Fish Fillet for large fish. The specific item sources below come from that guide; official July 2024 update notes confirm the broader ways bait can be obtained, but do not verify current prices or drop details.
What bait types are there in Throne and Liberty?
The January 16, 2025 guide lists four types. Their reported uses and acquisition methods are:
| Bait | Reported use | Reported way to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Paste Bait | General-purpose bait; the guide says it does not provide the rare-fish benefit attributed to the other bait types. | Buy a daily Fishing Bait Chest from the Contract Coin Merchant. The guide reports 50 Paste Bait per chest for 20 Contract Coins, or an alternative chest for 15 Ornate Coins. These are guide-reported terms, not a verified current price or stock limit. |
| Worm Bait | Attracts medium-sized fish, including Amberjack, Lanquis Barracuda, and Taion Moray Eel. | Gather it from Star Trees and Star Fruit Trees. |
| Shrimp Bait | Attracts small-sized fish, including Arowana, Banded Butterflyfish, and Ballan Wrasse. | Reported as a small drop chance from certain enemies around Windhill Shores and Daybreak Shore; see the enemy list below. |
| Fish Fillet Bait | Attracts large-sized fish, including Solisium Carp, Barracuda, and Blacktail Snook. | Dissolve fish in your inventory, according to the later guide. It reports that this also yields Uncommon Fish Oil. |
How do you get each kind of bait?
Paste Bait: buy the daily chest
The January 2025 guide reports that the Contract Coin Merchant sells a daily Fishing Bait Chest containing 50 Paste Bait for 20 Contract Coins, with a 15 Ornate Coin option also reported. Merchant stock and costs can change; the July 2024 official update notes confirm merchant purchase as a bait source generally, but do not establish these specific terms for the current game.
Worm Bait: gather Star Trees
Look for Star Trees and Star Fruit Trees and gather from them. The guide identifies this as the Worm Bait source. Official July 2024 notes also name gathering as a general bait source, but do not specify these tree types.

- 【Casting Version for Baitcasting Reels】Designed for baitcasting reels, the SOUGA Liberty Kaleido casting rod is made for anglers who want better lure control, accurate casting and stronger handling than light finesse setups. Choose 5ft 6in for shorter casts, ponds, creeks and kayak fishing, or 6ft for wider bank, boat and river use. Medium action supports bass, perch, walleye, pike and light inshore fishing when used within rated line and lure limits.
- 【Carbon Blank with Sensitive Medium Action】Built with a responsive carbon blank, this baitcaster rod balances lightweight strength, backbone and bite feel for everyday lure fishing. The medium action loads smoothly for casting while helping you detect lure movement, bottom contact and light strikes. Use it with crankbaits, soft plastics, small jigs, spinners, spoons or bait rigs. The Liberty Kaleido finish adds a bold look without sacrificing practical rod performance.
- 【SIC Ceramic Guides for Smooth Line Flow】The SIC ceramic guide system helps braided line, monofilament and fluorocarbon pass smoothly with reduced friction, lower line wear and quicker heat release during repeated casts. Clean guide alignment supports better casting distance, accuracy and retrieve control, making this 2 piece casting rod practical for bass fishing, walleye fishing, perch fishing, pike fishing and general freshwater lure presentations from the bank or boat.
- 【Custom Reel Seat & Thickened EVA Grip】An ergonomic custom reel seat helps lock your baitcasting reel firmly in place for stable balance, better control and confident hook sets. The thickened EVA grip provides a soft, secure and non-slip hold in wet or dry conditions, helping reduce hand fatigue during long sessions. The handle design also improves hand contact with the blank so anglers can feel subtle feedback from lures, fish and structure during casting and retrieve.
- 【2 Piece Travel Design with Hook Keeper】The plug-in 2 piece design breaks down to 88cm on the 5ft 6in model and 94cm on the 6ft model, making storage and transport easier in cars, kayaks, backpacks and rod cases. A built-in lure hook keeper keeps hooks secured between spots to reduce tangles and support safer carry. The casting rods are rated 4-10lb line with 1/16-1/4oz lures or 6-14lb line with 1/8-5/8oz lures, depending on size. Rinse after light saltwater use.
Shrimp Bait: hunt shore enemies
The January 2025 guide reports a small chance of Shrimp Bait from the following enemies in Windhill Shores and Daybreak Shore:
- Hermit Lobster
- Megalobster
- Chestacean
- Large Stone Crab
- Sea Crab
- Hermit Crab
- Iron Chestacean
The guide gives these specific enemy details; official notes confirm hunting as a general bait source, not these drops or their odds.

Fish Fillet Bait: dissolve fish
The later guide says to dissolve fish from your inventory to obtain Fish Fillet Bait, along with Uncommon Fish Oil. An older October 2024 guide instead lists overworld exploration and Fishing Sack rewards. The sources do not establish whether those older routes remained available after later patches, so the later guide’s method is the better-supported instruction here, not proof that the other routes are impossible.
What official notes confirm—and what they do not
The official July 24, 2024 update notes, reproduced by GamesLantern, say that basic rods and bait can be purchased from the “Customised Coin Merchant.” They also describe bait acquisition through dissolving fish, gathering, and hunting. Those notes confirm broad system channels, not the specific merchant price, enemy list, or item drop details reported by the January 2025 guide. They also say that available fish depend on the hunting area.

No. Amazon Games’ Update 2.10.0 notes, dated May 14, 2025, describe event NPCs distributing special Fishing Bait in Kastleton, Vienta Village, and Herba Village from May 15 through May 22, 2025. It could catch special fish that awarded bonus Fishing experience and additional items. That event window has passed; it is historical context, not a routine way to obtain bait now.
