As of October 8, 2026, the 2026 JRPG calendar includes both games with a scheduled release date and games announced for the year without a firm date. The lists below separate those statuses and identify where a title is a remaster rather than a new entry. Treat this as a changing snapshot: dates, platforms, regions, and language support can change.

How this 2026 JRPG list is defined

“JRPG” has no official, universally accepted boundary. For this list, it means Japanese-developed or Japan-published role-playing games, including relevant remakes, remasters, ports, and collections. Some games with role-playing elements may sit near the edge of that definition, and other calendars use different inclusion rules.

The schedule is a discovery guide, not an official industry registry. Play This JRPG maintains dated releases and a separate undated section, while RPG Site’s 2026 list focuses on games with confirmed English versions and announced 2026 plans. RPG Site also excludes predictions about when Early Access titles might leave Early Access. Neither source should be read as a definitive, exhaustive list. Play This JRPG’s 2026 schedule and RPG Site’s 2026 RPG calendar can help track changes.

JRPGs listed for 2026 without a confirmed release date

Play This JRPG’s undated section listed these 18 titles in its October 8, 2026 snapshot. Their presence means the tracker lists them for 2026, not that their dates, platforms, regional releases, or language support have been independently confirmed here title by title.

The tracker’s platform and release details can be useful leads, but check the relevant publisher or developer announcement before relying on them. For example, the tracker lists Rune Factory 6 for Nintendo Switch in Japan and notes English text; Persona 6 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC/Steam as a worldwide digital release; and Showa American Story for PS5 and PC/Steam as a worldwide digital release. Those are tracker entries, not independently verified platform or localization confirmations in this article. See the tracker’s current listings.

Announced 2026 releases with a listed date

Tales of Eternia Remastered — October 15, 2026

Play This JRPG lists Tales of Eternia Remastered for October 15, 2026, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. Its schedule notes physical and digital formats for Asia and Japan. This is a remaster, not a new mainline entry. The date and availability details are a snapshot; platform, region, format, and edition can affect what a particular player can buy or play. The tracker’s listing does not establish retailer stock or preorder availability. Check the current schedule.

How to read the calendar before choosing a game

  • Date certainty: A year-only listing is not a firm launch date. Keep announced-for-2026 titles separate from entries with a calendar date.
  • Platform: A game’s appearance on a schedule does not mean it is coming to every system. Confirm the platform on the publisher’s current announcement.
  • Region and language: A release in Japan or another region does not by itself establish a release in your country or an English version. Check localization and regional availability.
  • Release type: Note whether a title is a new game, remake, remaster, port, or collection; those categories answer different expectations about what is being released.
  • Format: Physical and digital editions vary by title, platform, and region. A schedule’s format note does not guarantee retailer stock.

Announcements around showcases and platform presentations can fill in parts of the picture, but they are not complete genre calendars. Sony’s June 2, 2026 State of Play recap covers announcements and date updates from that event; Nintendo’s May 2026 investor presentation lists selected first- and third-party games planned for Nintendo platforms from April 2026 onward. Use each for its stated scope, not as a complete cross-platform JRPG list. Sony’s State of Play June 2026 recap · Nintendo’s May 2026 investor presentation.

Why this list will change

Release plans move, and calendars are updated as publishers announce or revise details. A title described as coming in 2026 may receive a specific date, shift to another year, or have different platform and localization details by region. The 18-game undated count belongs only to Play This JRPG’s undated section in this snapshot; it is not an industry-wide count. RPG Site’s inclusion of confirmed English versions and announced 2026 plans is a different filter, so counts and selections will not necessarily match.
