For a year-by-year list of James Bond games, start with a qualification: the “first” depends on what counts as an official game. Game Informer identifies the 1982 ZX Spectrum text adventure Shaken but Not Stirred as the first official Bond video game; 007james calls Parker Brothers’ 1983 James Bond 007 the first licensed game. The chronology below includes both, then follows released games through 2012. It is ordered by release year, not by the films’ story order.

Platform notes help distinguish games that share a title. This is a year-level chronology: launch dates could differ by region, and the list does not attempt to count every port, rerelease, or mobile release.

What order did the James Bond video games come out?

The entries below cover the main licensed chronology documented by the cited sources, with the year and known platforms. Entries with the same film title are separate games when the platforms or release details distinguish them.

1982–1993: Early licensed games

  • 1982 — Shaken but Not Stirred (ZX Spectrum). A text adventure; Game Informer identifies it as the first official Bond video game.
  • 1983 — James Bond 007 (Parker Brothers; Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Commodore 64, among other platforms). 007james calls this the first licensed Bond game.
  • 1985 — A View to a Kill (Domark; ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, MSX). An action game.
  • 1985 — James Bond 007: A View to a Kill (Mindscape; Apple II, Macintosh, DOS). A separate text adventure—not another version of the Domark action game.
  • 1986 — James Bond 007: Goldfinger (Mindscape; Apple II, Macintosh, DOS).
  • 1987 — James Bond: The Living Daylights (Domark; ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga, MSX).
  • 1988 — James Bond: Live and Let Die (Domark; Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga, DOS).
  • 1989 — 007: Licence to Kill (Domark; DOS, Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga).
  • 1990 — James Bond: The Spy Who Loved Me (Domark; DOS, Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga).
  • 1990 — James Bond 007: The Stealth Affair (Interplay; DOS, Atari ST, Amiga). In most territories it was released as Operation Stealth; it was licensed as a Bond game for the US market.
  • 1992 — James Bond Jr (NES, Super Nintendo).
  • 1993 — James Bond 007: The Duel (Sega Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive).

1997–2005: Console adaptations and original stories

  • 1997 — GoldenEye 007 (Nintendo 64; Rare). Its regional launch dates differed: 23 August in Japan, 25 August in North America, and 7 November in the United Kingdom.
  • 1998 — James Bond 007 (Game Boy; Saffire).
  • 1999 — Tomorrow Never Dies (PlayStation; Electronic Arts).
  • 2000 — The World Is Not Enough (Nintendo 64 and PlayStation). These are distinct platform versions.
  • 2000 — 007 Racing (PlayStation).
  • 2001 — Agent Under Fire (PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance).
  • 2002 — Nightfire (PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance).
  • 2004 — Everything or Nothing (PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox).
  • 2004 — GoldenEye: Rogue Agent (PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, Nintendo DS). This is a licensed franchise spin-off; the player character is not James Bond.
  • 2005 — 007: From Russia with Love (PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, PSP).

2008–2012: Later releases in the documented chronology

  • 2008 — Quantum of Solace (PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Windows).
  • 2010 — Blood Stone (platforms not stated in the cited chronology).
  • 2010 — GoldenEye 007 (Wii). This is a new game based on the Bond film, not a port of the 1997 Nintendo 64 game.
  • 2011 — GoldenEye: Reloaded (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360). This is the later console release associated with the Wii GoldenEye 007, not the original 1997 title.
  • 2012 — 007 Legends (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows, Wii U).

Why do sources disagree about the first Bond game?

The disagreement reflects two different definitions rather than a single settled date. Game Informer’s January 2026 timeline calls Shaken but Not Stirred (1982) the first official Bond video game. 007james instead identifies the 1983 Parker Brothers release James Bond 007 as the first licensed game. Including both, with their attributions, avoids treating either framing as uncontested.

How to read the release years

A year is the clearest way to compare releases across regions and platforms. The N64 GoldenEye 007, for example, launched on three different dates in Japan, North America, and the UK in 1997; those dates should not be generalized into one worldwide launch day. The same care applies to the two games released in 2010: the Wii GoldenEye 007 and Blood Stone are separate titles, and the chronology’s November 2 date is not established here as a global date.

This is a documented main chronology, not a definitive count of every Bond-related game. The fan-maintained references used for much of the release and platform data may omit edge cases such as ports, mobile releases, and regional launches. A June 2026 fan-maintained database describes a later project as upcoming; an unreleased or unverified project does not belong in a released-games list.
