For the highest reported Synergy boosts with Kiyoshi Kurotani, also known as Key, select the +60 answer at each listed Rank-Up event and on the first visit to each listed hangout location. His preferred gifts can add more points, with Silver Bangle and Paranormal VHS offering the largest listed first-time bonuses. These are in-game items; dialogue, shops, and rewards may vary by server or game version, so check the live game when details differ.
How to unlock Kiyoshi’s Synergy
Kiyoshi’s Synergy is reported to unlock through the side mission “The Boy of Legend.” The guide lists it as available After School and says Wonder’s Guts is needed to progress, including Guts 17 for Rank 20. Prydwen also identifies Guts as Kiyoshi’s associated Social Stat. These exact unlock and rank requirements are guide-reported, not independently verified official specifications. PHP.cn’s Kiyoshi guide and Prydwen’s Synergy overview provide the walkthrough details.

Best Rank-Up dialogue choices
Choose the answers below for the highest boost listed for each Rank-Up event. The guide reports no dialogue choice is required at several other ranks.
| Synergy rank | Highest listed answer | Reported boost |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | “You’re stronger than I thought.” | 60 |
| 5 | “I won’t abandon you.” | 60 |
| 7 | “Is it okay to let him go?” | 60 |
| 9 | “Watch my back.” | 60 |
| 11 | “Isn’t this rude to the girl?” | 60 |
| 13 | “Did he strike a nerve?” | 60 |
| 15 | “Hence the kindred spirit thing?” | 60 |
| 17 | “We’re kindred spirits, after all.” | 60 |
At Rank 15, the separate Close Friend Soulmates conversation has its own answer: “Just sleep” is listed for 60, while “Reading manga or playing games” is listed for 50. This is specific to that conversation, not a replacement for the Rank 15 Rank-Up answer. Values and answer text are from the PHP.cn guide.

First-visit hangout answers
The listed dialogue appears on the first visit to each location, not on revisits. Choose the following answer for the highest reported boost:
| Location | Highest listed first-visit answer | Reported boost |
|---|---|---|
| Asakusa | “Don’t worry about it.” | 60 |
| Ogikubo | “You’re a genius!” | 60 |
| Shibuya | “My thoughts exactly.” | 60 |
| Shinjuku | “This place gives me the creeps.” | 60 |
| Suidobashi | “To the rollercoaster!” | 60 |
The paired alternatives in the guide are listed at 50 points; it says unlisted dialogue choices do not give a Synergy boost. These figures are reported by PHP.cn.
Preferred gifts for Kiyoshi
The guide separates Kiyoshi-exclusive preferred gifts from gifts shared with other characters. “Ordinary/preferred” and “first-time preferred” below are the reported Synergy boosts. In-game prices are in yen. The first-time bonus makes it useful to vary gift items rather than repeatedly giving the same one.

What the Synergy rewards provide
The reported book rewards are Quick Revelation Methods at Rank 1, All About First Aid at Rank 3, Muscles at Rank 11, Secret Librarian Skills at Rank 15, and Analysis of Film at Rank 20. The guide describes these books as providing Social Stat bonuses and City Activity or facility benefits; Prydwen summarizes Kiyoshi’s books as improving rewards from specific City Activities.
There is an important version-sensitive detail: an official P5X issue notice says the “How to Get” section for a book obtained by increasing Kiyoshi’s Synergy Rank was mistaken and corrected on August 21, 2025. Do not rely on older acquisition directions; check the book’s current in-game description. The correction is recorded in the official issue notice updated September 17, 2025.
The official shop notice dated February 13, 2026 describes time-limited Synergy sets and in-game gifts, rather than real-world merchandise. Its availability is limited to the applicable in-game shop period and server. See the official shop notice.
