The January 2021 PlayStation Plus lineup was Maneater for PS5, plus Shadow of the Tomb Raider and GreedFall for PS4. The games were available to claim from January 5 through February 1, 2021. That offer has expired: these are not currently free or redeemable through that monthly promotion.
January 2021 PS Plus games at a glance
| Game | Platform in the offer | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Maneater | PS5 only | A single-player, open-world action RPG where you play as a shark, grow by eating, and face human and wildlife enemies. |
| Shadow of the Tomb Raider | PS4 | Lara Croft’s jungle adventure, built around exploration, traversal, stealth, crafting, tombs, and puzzles. |
| GreedFall | PS4 | An action RPG on a remote island, with combat, diplomacy, deception, or stealth as possible approaches and choices that affect companion and faction relationships. |
Sony announced the lineup on December 30, 2020. The official PlayStation announcement described Maneater as a “ShaRkPG” and listed it for PS5; it did not include the game as a PS4 offer.

What each game offered
Maneater: play as the predator
Maneater puts the player in control of a shark in an open world. Its central loop is to explore, eat, and grow while dealing with people and other wildlife. It was the lineup’s PS5-only game, so the January PS Plus benefit did not include the PS4 version.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider: explore the jungle
This action-adventure follows Lara Croft through South American jungles. Its mix of stealth, crafting, traversal, puzzles, and tomb exploration makes it the lineup’s adventure-focused choice. Sony’s announcement identified the offer as Shadow of the Tomb Raider for PS4, but did not specify the Definitive Edition.

GreedFall: choose how to handle conflict
GreedFall is a choice-driven action RPG set on a remote island. Players can emphasize combat, diplomacy, deception, or stealth; decisions also shape relationships with companions and factions.
Regional exceptions Sony listed
- Maneater was not available in Saudi Arabia.
- GreedFall was unavailable in the Middle East, where Assetto Corsa replaced it.
- In Japan and South Korea, Mistover replaced GreedFall.
These are the regional exceptions stated in Sony’s announcement; they should not be read as a complete list of differences across every PlayStation market.

Membership and edition details
“Free” meant included as a PlayStation Plus monthly game for eligible members during the offer window, not an unconditional permanent download. Sony’s announcement tied access to membership and noted that subscription games and benefits can change. The January 2021 claim period is over.
The announcement does not establish that the PS4 Shadow of the Tomb Raider offer was the Definitive Edition. The current US PlayStation Store page is for the Definitive Edition, but a current product page does not prove which package was included in the 2021 promotion. Similarly, Sony listed GreedFall as a PS4 game in the January lineup; its current US PlayStation Store listing names the Standard Edition for PS4 and PS5, which does not change the historical platform eligibility.
